State Road 62 (SR 62) is a state highway in Manatee and Hardee counties in the US state of Florida that passes through scrubland from Parrish to near Bowling Green. Route description The paved SR 62 is only two lanes wide over its entire route and cuts through the Manatee River basin. The road crosses Horse Creek and the North Fork of the Manatee River. It provides access to the Tampa Bay area from Hardee County. Inside Duette, SR 62 meets with the intersection of Keentown Road. Keentown Road is a dirt road that leads into the hamlet of Keentown, a farming community. Bradenton Beach, Florida
Bradenton Beach is a city on Anna Maria Island in Manatee County, Florida, United States. The population was 908 at the 2020 census, down from 1,171 in 2010. It is part of the Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city occupies the southern part of Anna Maria Island and is one of three municipalities on the island. The others are Holmes Beach in the center and Anna Maria in the north. History Pre-1950 1920s & 1930s Bradenton Beach was originally referred to as "Cortez Beach" since it was close to the community of Cortez. Construction on a wooden bridge to the mainland began in the summer of 1921. The 1921 Tampa Bay hurricane that October destroyed 80% of the bridge that was built up to that point. Palmetto is a city in Manatee County, Florida, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was listed as 13,323. It is part of the Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. History A post office called Palmetto has been in operation since 1868. Samuel Sparks Lamb is considered the "Father of Palmetto," having surveyed and plotted the city at its outset and donated several plots of land. He owned a general merchandise store in town. Samuel Sparks Lamb was from Clarke County, Mississippi, and arrived in the area near the Manatee River in 1868 establishing Palmetto. The city received its name from the Sabal, palmetto trees near the original town site. Palmetto was first incorporated in May 1893 as a village, with its first mayor being P.S. Harlee. Terra Ceia is an unincorporated community in Manatee County, Florida, United States that includes the Terra Ceia Preserve. It is located on Terra Ceia Island on the Southern shore of Tampa Bay near the intersection of US 19 and I-275, at the southern end of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. The Sugarmill is a nightclub and music venue in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, that opened in 1994.
