Athens Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania
Athens Township is a township in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The population was 5,198 at the 2020 census. History The Bridge in Athens Township was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. It was replaced in 2005 and stricken from the Register in 2012. Geography Athens Township is located in northern Bradford County, along the New York state line. The Susquehanna and Chemung rivers flow into the township from New York and join near the southern border of the township. Athens Township is bordered by Litchfield Township to the east, Sheshequin, Ulster and Smithfield townships to the south, and Ridgebury Township to the west. Wyalusing, Pennsylvania
Wyalusing is a borough in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The population was 596 as of the 2010 census. History The history of Wyalusing dates back centuries. It was originally known as ''M'chwihilusing''. The Moravian Christian Munsees for several years had a settlement Friedenshuetten (Tents of Peace) in what is now Wyalusing. Before 1750, the settlement was known as ''Gahontoto'' and was home to the Tehotachsee tribe of Native Americans. This small tribe would eventually be completely wiped out by the Cayuga tribe. In 1792, the chief of the Cayugas and approximately 20 other families rebuilt the town. In the 19th century, the town began to prosper as it became a shipping area for logs and other items on the Susquehanna River. Wyalusing Township is a township in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The population was 1,242 at the 2010 census. History The Ellen and Charles F. Welles House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. Geography Wyalusing Township is located in southeast Bradford County, along the northeast bank of the Susquehanna River. It is bordered by Standing Stone Township to the northwest, Herrick Township to the north, Stevens Township to the northeast, and Tuscarora Township to the east. Across the Susquehanna River are Wilmot Township to the south, Terry Township to the southwest, and Asylum Township to the west. Geography Sheshequin Township is located north of the center of Bradford County, on the east bank of the Susquehanna River. Troy is a borough in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The population was 1,354 at the 2010 census. Children residing in the borough are assigned to attend the Troy Area School District. History The borough of Troy was incorporated in 1845 from Troy Township, which encircles the borough. Originally part of Luzerne County, the borough's future location (called Lansingburgh) became part of Ontario (now Bradford) County when it was created in 1810. Towanda, Pennsylvania
Towanda is a borough and the county seat of Bradford County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania and is located northwest of Wilkes-Barre, on the Susquehanna River. The name means "burial ground" in the Algonquian language. As of the 2020 census, the population of Towanda was 2,833. History Towanda was settled in 1784 and became the county seat in 1812. It was variously known for some years as Meansville, Overton, Williamson, Monmouth and Towanda, and incorporated in 1828. Towanda was once known primarily for its industrial interests, which included flour, planing and silk mills, a foundry and machine shop, dye works, and manufacturers of talking machines, cut glass, toys and furniture.
