National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance
The National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance (NQAPIA) is an American federation of Asian American, South Asian, Southeast Asian. and Pacific Islander LGBTQ organizations. NQAPIA was formed in 2007, as an outgrowth of the LGBT APA Roundtable working groups at the 2005 National Gay Lesbian Task Force Creating Change Conference in Oakland, California. NQAPIA seeks to build the capacity of local LGBT AAPI organizations, invigorate grassroots organizing, develop leadership, and challenge homophobia, racism, and anti-immigrant bias. The organization "focuses on grass-roots organizing and leadership development." SALGA NYC (South Asian Lesbian and Gay Association of New York City) is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to improving the awareness and acceptance of LGBTQ people of South Asian origin in the New York City metropolitan area. The organization concentrates on providing cultural visibility for community members and opposing oppression and discrimination in the LGBTQ, South Asian, and intersectional communities. Conrad Wayne Ricamora (born February 17, 1979) is an American actor. He is best known for his portrayal of Oliver Hampton on the ABC television series '' How to Get Away with Murder'' (2014–20). The Gabriela Women's Party (General Assembly Binding Women for Integrity, Reform, Equality, Leadership and Action) or simply GABRIELA, is a progressive Filipino political party that advocates for women's issues and represents Filipino women in the House of Representatives. Andrea Hong Marra is a Korean American politician and human rights activist who ran to represent Queens' District 13 in the New York State Senate. She used to work in communications at the Arcus Foundation. She serves on the boards of Freedom for All Americans and Just Detention International. Esera Tavai Tuaolo (born July 11, 1968), nicknamed "Mr. Aloha", is a former American professional football player. He was a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for 9 years. Football career He played college football at Oregon State University and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He won the Morris Trophy in 1989, which is given to the best defensive lineman in the Pac-10. Michael Makoto "Mike" Honda (born June 27, 1941) is an American politician and former educator. A member of the Democratic Party, he served in Congress from 2001 to 2017. Initially involved in education in California, he first became active in politics in 1971, when then San Jose mayor Norman Mineta appointed Honda to the city's Planning Commission. Mineta later joined both the Bush and Clinton cabinets. Urooj Arshad (born 1975) is an American activist who was a co-founder the Muslim Alliance for Sexual and Gender Diversity, where she is also a member of the steering committee. Early life and education Arshad was born in Pakistan in a house built by her grandfather. Her middle-class, secular Sunni Muslim family lived in Karachi, where her father worked for a petrol company and her mother was a teacher at a military school. Mia Nakano is an American photographer, filmmaker, educator, printer, activist, a founding editor of ''Hyphen'' magazine, and Project Director of the Visibility Project.
