National Police Commissioner (Sweden)
The National Police Commissioner of Sweden ( sv, rikspolischef) is the head of the Swedish Police Authority, appointed by the Government, responsible for all activities of the police. The current Commissioner is Anders Thornberg, who began serving February 15, 2018. Role The office was created with the establishment of the National Police Board and the nationalization of the Swedish police in 1965. The Commissioner is appointed by the Government for a period of six years, with an option to extend, but as a rule for no more than three years. The person holding the office must be a Swedish citizen. Anders Ygeman
''Anders'' Ingvar Ygeman (; born 17 June 1970) is a Swedish politician of the Social Democrats. He has served as Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy, Minister for Integration and Minister for Sports since November 2021. He previously served in the Swedish Government as Minister for Energy and Minister for Digital Development from 2019 to 2021 and as Minister for Home Affairs from 2014 to 2017. The Supreme Commander ( sv, överbefälhavaren; acronym: ÖB) is the highest ranked professional military officer in the Swedish Armed Forces, and is by NATO terminology the Swedish chief of defence equivalent. The Supreme Commander is the agency head of the Swedish Armed Forces and formally reports to the Government of Sweden, though normally through the Minister for Defence. The primary responsibilities and duties of the Supreme Commander (and the charter for the Armed Forces) are prescribed in an ordinance issued by the Government. Sten Heckscher (born 29 July 1942) is a Swedish lawyer and Social Democratic politician. He graduated with a degree in law from Uppsala University. Even though his father was leader of what later became the Moderate Party, Heckscher himself engaged in Social Democratic politics. He served in numerous public positions in and out of government until Prime Minister Ingvar Carlsson appointed him Minister of Industry and Employment on the eve of the Social Democrats' election victory in 1994. In 1996, he resigned to become National Police Commissioner. Heckscher served until 2005 when he was appointed chief judge of the Administrative Court of Appeal in Stockholm. Björn Gustaf Eriksson (born 7 December 1945) is a Swedish civil servant. A former director of the Swedish Coast Guard, the Swedish Customs Service, the Swedish police, and president of Interpol. He was, from 1996 to 31 August 2009, governor of Östergötland County, residing at the Linköping Castle. Nils Erik Hjalmar Åhmansson (born 23 May 1941), is a Swedish civil servant. Åhmansson was National Police Commissioner from 1 January 1988 to 20 October 1988. He was chairman of the Swedish Kennel Club from 1993 to 2015. Holger Axel Gustaf Romander (6 March 1921 – 25 January 2020) was a Swedish civil servant. He served as the Prosecutor-General of Sweden from 1966 to 1978 and as the National Police Commissioner from 1978 to 1987. Career Romander was born on 6 March 1921 in Boden, Sweden, the son of lieutenant colonel Nils Romander and his wife Ester (née Steinbeck).
