National Institute For Mathematical Sciences
The National Institute for Mathematical Sciences (NIMS; ) is a Korean government-funded mathematics research institute. Their work focuses both basic research and applied mathematics with industrial and medical applications. NIMS became an affiliated research institute of the Institute for Basic Science in 2012. After delays for multiple years, relocation is planned for late 2023. Jeong Han Kim
Jeong Han Kim (; born July 20, 1962) is a South Korean mathematician. He studied physics and mathematical physics at Yonsei University, and earned his Ph.D. in mathematics at Rutgers University. He was a researcher at AT&T Bell Labs and at Microsoft Research, and was Underwood Chair Professor of Mathematics at Yonsei University. He is currently a Professor of the School of Computational Sciences at the Korea Institute for Advanced Study. His main research fields are combinatorics and computational mathematics. His best known contribution to the field is his proof that the Ramsey number R(3,t) has asymptotic order of magnitude t2/log t. He received the Fulkerson Prize in 1997 for his contributions to Ramsey theory. The Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS) is an advanced research institute in South Korea. It is located on a campus in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul. KIAS was founded in 1996, aiming to become a world leading research institute where international elite scholars gather and dedicate to fundamental research in basic sciences. Yong Hoon Lee is a mathematician and former president of Ajou University in South Korea. Yong Seung Cho
Yong Seung Cho (; born September 18, 1949) is a South Korean educator and mathematician. He completed a Ph.D. in mathematics in 1987 at the University of Chicago. His research interests include geometric topology, Yang-Mills Theory, Seiberg-Witten Theory, Gromov-Witten Theory, and Quantum cohomology of symplectic manifolds. His teaching career includes Chungbuk National University, Kyungpook National University, Brandeis University, and Ewha Womans University.
