Dzuluk
Dzuluk or Zuluk or Jhuluk or Jaluk is a small hamlet located at a height of on the rugged terrain of the lower Himalayas in Rongli Subdivision of Pakyong District, which lies in the Indian state Sikkim ( Pincode 737131). This place is relatively an emerging and offbeat destination in Sikkim. Today it is a tourist destination for the view of the eastern Himalayan mountain range including the Kanchenjunga. History Dzuluk was once a transit point to the trade route between Kalimpong and Tibet. The route was in use even a few decades ago until the 1959 Chinese crackdown in Tibet. It was commonly used by traders traveling to Tibet through Jelep La ("La" stands for mountain pass) as an overnight base. On 28 April 2010, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways officially published a new numbering system for the National Highway network in the Gazette of the Government of India. It is a systematic numbering scheme based on the orientation and the geographic location of the highway. This was adopted to ensure more flexibility and consistency in the numbering of existing and new national highways. As per the new numbering system: * All north-south oriented highways will have even numbers increasing from the east to the west. * All east-west oriented highways will have odd numbers increasing from the north to the south. * All major Highways will be single digit or double digit in number. * Three-digit numbered highways are secondary routes or branches of a main highway. The secondary route number is prefixed to the number of the main highway. Rongli
Rongli or Rangli is a town in the Pakyong District of the Indian state of Sikkim. It lies on the banks of Rangpo River around by road south of the state capital Gangtok. Rongli is also the headquarter of Rongli Subdivision of Pakyong District. Rongli is one of the oldest market of Sikkim that lies on the trade route between Kalimpong and Tibet. Demographics As of the 2011 Census of India, Rangli had 6,054 households with a total population of 27,741. Males made up 14,408 of this figure and females 13,333 while 2,966 individuals were under six years of age. Rhenock
Rhenock is a town in the Pakyong District in Sikkim, India, located on the border with the Kalimpong district of West Bengal. It lies 63 kilometres east of Gangtok, and 47 kilometres north of Kalimpong on the way to Jelepla Pass at an altitude of 1,040 metres. The word Rhe-nock (in Lepcha dialect) means Black Hill. Situated in the extreme east of Sikkim, Rhenock witnessed the establishment of the first police outpost in the state. History Rhenock was covered with dense forest in and around the 13th century. The Lepchas were the early settlers about five or six hundred years ago. Middle of 16th century the Bhutias, migrated from Tibet settled in the villages presently known as Kyongsa, Aritar, Tarpin, Reshi and Chalisey.
