National Alliance For Water Innovation
The National Alliance for Water Innovation (NAWI), is a broad U.S. national consortium established to design and carry out the research and development program needed to secure an affordable, energy-efficient, and resilient water supply for the US economy through decentralized, fit-for-purpose desalination. NAWI was founded in 2019 as one of five (DOE) Energy Innovation Hubs, and its principal support of $100M over five years has been provided by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. The NAWI hub is part of the DOE's Water-Energy Nexus initiative, which is described in a 2014 report that discusses the close connections between the national challenges in energy and water. Water (chemical formula ) is an inorganic, transparent, tasteless, odorless, and nearly colorless chemical substance, which is the main constituent of Earth's hydrosphere and the fluids of all known living organisms (in which it acts as a solvent). It is vital for all known forms of life, despite not providing food, energy or organic micronutrients. Its chemical formula, H2O, indicates that each of its molecules contains one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms, connected by covalent bonds. The hydrogen atoms are attached to the oxygen atom at an angle of 104.45°. "Water" is also the name of the liquid state of H2O at standard temperature and pressure. A number of natural states of water exist. It forms precipitation in the form of rain and aerosols in the form of fog. Clouds consist of suspended droplets of water and ice, its solid state.
