National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience
National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE) is a training program of Boy Scouts of America. The format is a week-long, leadership development experience, providing young men and women aged 14 through 20 the environment to enhance their leadership skills. Program content Initially developed for Philmont Training Center (PTC) at Rayado Ridge Leadership Camp in Cimarron, New Mexico, the program has been offered regionally and at other high adventure bases. NAYLE is an element of the Youth Leadership Training Continuum. NAYLE expands upon the team-building and ethical decision-making skills learned in National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) , which is a pre-requisite for NAYLE. Venturing
Venturing is a core program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women ages 14 (or 13 and graduated the eighth grade) through 20. It is one of the Boy Scouts' three programs for older youth, which also include Sea Scouts and Exploring. The purpose of Venturing is to provide a positive environment where youth members, called Venturers, can lead the adventure, take on new leadership roles, and mature into responsible adults. Nature conservation is the moral philosophy and conservation movement focused on protecting species from extinction, maintaining and restoring habitats, enhancing ecosystem services, and protecting biological diversity. Geocaching
Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world. As of 2021 there were over a million active players in the United States. Geocaching can be considered a Location-based game. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and sometimes a pen or pencil. The geocacher signs the log with their established code name and dates it, in order to prove that they found the cache. Introduction To Leadership Skills For Crews
Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews is the first level leadership development course for Venturers in the Boy Scouts of America's Venturing program for older youth (14-21). It replaced the Venturing Leadership Skills Course in 2014. While the course is expected to be put on by a crew (ideally by the officers and adult advisors), many councils/districts put on ILSC courses (hopefully led mainly by experienced Venturers) for their Crews. This is done mainly because many crews are too small to effectively put on the course themselves. Format ILSC helps crew members with leadership positions to learn about their new roles and how to most effectively reach success in that role. Philmont Training Center
The Philmont Training Center (PTC), located at the Philmont Scout Ranch near Cimarron, New Mexico, has been the National Training Center of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) since 1950. The PTC offers week-long training conferences from June through September for council, district, and unit volunteers, BSA professionals, and youth leaders with several conferences taking place each week. The PTC also offers activities for family members including hikes throughout the week and a week-long backpacking program called a Mountain Trek for youth ages 14 to 20. Program Some participants and families drive to PTC, while others take a plane, chartered bus, or Amtrak to travel to the training center.
