Nathaniel Edwards (politician)
Nathaniel Edwards New Zealand Legislative Council, MLC (1822 – 15 July 1880) was a 19th-century Member of parliament, Member of Parliament from Nelson, New Zealand, Nelson, New Zealand. Early life Nathaniel Edwards was born in 1822 in Derbyshire, England. His parents were solicitor William Edwards and his wife Mary Ann (née Allen). He arrived in Nelson in January 1845 on the ''Slams Castle'' from London, England. as partner in the firm of Nattrass and Edwards, along with machinery for a flax-dressing mill. This machinery was set up in the swamps of the Wakapuaka flats, but the experiments proved unsuccessful and ended in 1846. With this failure Edwards was thrown upon his own resources and he worked with surveyors Joseph Ward and Cyrus Goulter in the Wairau. He was still working as a surveyor on 13 September 1855 when he married in Nelson to 20-year-old Annie Augusta Nicholas Laking, daughter of Dr and Mrs Laking of Waimea West. They had 12 children. Nathaniel Edwards (March 4, 1892 – ?) was an American Negro league pitcher in the 1910s. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Edwards made his Negro leagues debut in 1913 with the Philadelphia Giants. Nathaniel Edwards (born October 18, 2002) is a Canadian soccer player who plays for Toronto FC II in MLS Next Pro. Early life Edwards grew up in Brampton, Ontario. He played youth soccer with Brampton East SC, Bolton Wanderers SC, and Vaughan Azzurri. College career In 2020, Edwards began attending Purdue University Fort Wayne, where he played for the men's soccer team. He was named to the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll in the Fall of 2021 and Spring of 2022. For his senior season, Edwards transferred to Syracuse University to play for the men's soccer team. On September 29, 2023, he scored his first goal for Syracuse in a loss to the Duke Blue Devils. On October 18, he recorded his first multi-assist game, recording assists on both goals in a 2-0 victory over the Yale Bulldogs. Nathen Porter Edwards (August 24, 1922 – May 26, 2016) was a former IBM hardware architect, retired in 1990. He did his military service in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946, as a LTJG, Deck, USNR, Pacific, Chief Radio Technician, followed by Stanford University, where he gained an MS EE in 1949. He worked for IBM from 1949 to 1990, as a Staff Member, Thomas J. Watson Research Center, with the position of Senior Engineer for the last 20 years of this period. He published, sometimes with other authors, 22 technical papers, 14 patents and patent publications — see below.
