Nathan M. Johnson
Nathan Matthew Johnson (born February 12, 1968) is an American politician, lawyer, and composer who represents almost a million Dallas County residents in the growing and rapidly diversifying Texas Senate District 16. In the November 6, 2018, election, Johnson defeated incumbent Republican Don Huffines to become the first Democrat to represent the district in over three decades. Early life and education Johnson is a native of Fort Worth, Texas. He received a B.S. in physics from the University of Arizona in 1990 and a J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1993. Victoria Neave Criado (born December 29, 1980) is an American attorney and a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 107 in Dallas County, Texas. In the general election held on November 8, 2016, she unseated Republican Representative Kenneth Sheets in the most expensive Texas House race of the 2016 cycle. Neave was sworn into office on January 10, 2017. Neave was arrested in June 2017 on a Driving While Intoxicated charge after she allegedly crashed her BMW into a tree within district 107 at 11:30 p.m. She allegedly repeatedly told arresting officers that "I love you and I want to fight for you, and I invoke the Fifth Amendment." Neave said after her arrest that she was "deeply sorry, and will accept the consequences of my actions, and will work to make this right." The Sunset Advisory Commission is an agency of the Texas Legislature that evaluates state agencies and makes recommendations to the legislature on the need for, performance of, and improvements to agencies under review. The commission is headquartered in the Robert E. Johnson State Office Building in Austin. As of the 85th legislative session in 2017, the commission has abolished 85 state agencies.
