Nathan Lovett-Murray
Nathan Lovett-Murray (born 18 November 1982) is a former Australian rules footballer with the Essendon Football Club. Early life Lovett-Murray has Indigenous Australian heritage and his tribal ancestry can be traced to the Wamba-Wamba and Gunditjmara. He began his football in Victoria playing country football with Heywood and the North Ballarat Rebels. AFL career Lovett-Murray was initially rookie listed by Collingwood Football Club, Collingwood, playing for the Williamstown Football Club, Williamstown Seagulls in the Victorian Football League. After switching to the Bendigo Bombers, he was rookie listed by Essendon in the 2003 Rookie Draft. Lovett-Murray was promoted to the senior list early in the 2004 AFL season, 2004 season and played 20 games. 2001 AFL Draft
The 2001 AFL draft consisted of a state draft, a body draft, a pre-season draft and a trade period. The AFL draft is the annual draft of players by Australian rules football teams that participate in the main competition of that sport, the Australian Football League (AFL). In 2001 there were 83 picks to be drafted between 16 teams in the national draft. The Fremantle Dockers originally received the first pick in the national draft after finishing on the bottom of the ladder in the 2001 AFL season but they traded it to Hawthorn for Trent Croad. Matthew Carr
Matthew Carr (born 29 December 1978) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Fremantle and St Kilda in the Australian Football League (AFL). He played as a half-back flanker and began his football career at East Fremantle. Matthew is the elder brother of Josh Carr, who also played for Fremantle and they both attended Corpus Christi College in Bateman, Western Australia. St Kilda career (1998-2000) Carr was drafted by Collingwood with the 64th selection in the 1995 AFL Draft, from East Fremantle in the West Australian Football League, but did not manage to make his debut for the Magpies. He then returned to East Fremantle in 1997, before being drafted by the St Kilda with their 1st round selection in the 1998 Pre-Season Draft. Fitzroy Football Club
The Fitzroy Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). Formed in 1883 to represent the inner-Melbourne municipality of Fitzroy, the club was a member of the Victorian Football Association (VFA), before becoming a foundation member of the breakaway Victorian Football League (VFL/AFL) in 1897. Fitzroy won a total of eight VFL premierships, of which seven (1898, 1899, 1904, 1905, 1913, 1916 and 1922) were won whilst they were nicknamed the Maroons and one (1944) as the Gorillas. Douglas Nicholls
Sir Douglas Ralph Nicholls, (9 December 1906 – 4 June 1988) was a prominent Aboriginal Australian from the Yorta Yorta people. He was a professional athlete, Churches of Christ pastor and church planter, ceremonial officer and a pioneering campaigner for reconciliation. Nicholls was the first Aboriginal Australian to be knighted when he was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1972 (he was subsequently appointed a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 1977). He was also the first — and to date the only — Indigenous Australian to be appointed to vice-regal office, serving as Governor of South Australia from 1 December 1976 until his resignation on 30 April 1977 due to poor health.
