Nathan Lee Chasing His Horse
Nathan Lee Chasing His Horse, also known as Nathan Chasing Horse and Nathan Chases His Horse (born April 28, 1976) is a Native American actor. Formerly from the Rosebud Lakota Sioux Nation, he has spent most of his adult life in California, and currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. In January 2023, he was arrested on charges relating to multiple sex crimes against Indigenous girls. Life and career Chasing Horse portrayed the young Lakota character Smiles A Lot in Kevin Costner's 1990 movie ''Dances with Wolves''. He has appeared in three TNT telefilms with First Nations actor Eric Schweig: ''The Broken Chain'', '' Into the West'', and ''Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee''. He has given speaking engagements and workshops on spirituality, and developed a following in a variety of locations. He is the father of model Quannah Chasinghorse. Rosebud Indian Reservation
The Rosebud Indian Reservation is an Indian reservation in South Dakota, United States. It is the home of the federally recognized Rosebud Sioux Tribe, who are Sicangu, a band of Lakota people. The Lakota name ''Sicangu Oyate'' translates as the "Burnt Thigh Nation," also known by the French term, the Brulé Sioux. The Rosebud Indian Reservation was established in 1889 after the United States' partition of the Great Sioux Reservation, which was created by the Treaty of Fort Laramie (1868). The Great Sioux Reservation had covered all of West River, South Dakota (the area west of the Missouri River), as well as part of northern Nebraska and eastern Montana. Since its founding, the Rosebud reservation has been reduced considerably in size, as has happened with the other Lakota and Dakota reservations. ''Dreamkeeper'' is a 2003 film written by John Fusco and directed by Steve Barron. The main plot of the film is the conflict between a Lakota elder and storyteller named Pete Chasing Horse (August Schellenberg) and his Lakota grandson, Shane Chasing Horse (Eddie Spears). The plot unwinds as the two travel from Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota to the All Nations powwow in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a trip the grandson takes only under duress.
