Nathan Glick
Nathan H. Glick (June 10, 1912 – October 16, 2012) was an American artist and illustrator best known for his work as a combat artist depicting aerial battles in World War II. He also worked as art director for '' Progressive Farmer'' magazine, and as the illustrator of several books on early Alabama history. Glick was born in Leeds, Alabama in 1912 but finished high school in Montgomery. He continued his art studies under Eric Pape and George Ennis in New York City and studied animal anatomy under James L. Clarke at the American Museum of Natural History. During the 1930s, Glick was art director for Paragon Press, a small publisher which issued history works by Alabama state archivist Marie Bankhead Owen. She also commissioned him to design the scenes cast in bronze for the doors of Alabama's 1940 Alabama Department of Archives and History building. Parade (magazine)
''Parade'' was an American nationwide Sunday newspaper magazine, distributed in more than 700 newspapers in the United States until 2022. The most widely read magazine in the U.S., ''Parade'' had a circulation of 32 million and a readership of 54.1 million. Anne Krueger has been the magazine's editor since 2015. The Nov. 13, 2022 issue was the final edition printed and inserted in newspapers nationwide. According to its final edition, ''Parade'' will continue as an e-magazine on newspaper websites. Company history The magazine was founded by Marshall Field III in 1941, with the first issue published May 31 as ''Parade: The Weekly Picture Newspaper'' for 5 cents per copy. Southern Museum Of Flight
The Southern Museum of Flight is a civilian aviation museum Birmingham, Alabama. The facility features nearly 100 aircraft, as well as engines, models, artifacts, photographs, and paintings. In addition, the Southern Museum of Flight is home to the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame, which presents Alabama Aviation History through collective biography. Overview Notable aircraft on display include a Wright Flyer, Curtis Pusher, Fokker D-VII, Alexander Eaglerock, F-4 Phantom, F-86 Sabre, AH-1 Cobra, Soviet-built MiGs, Mi-24 Hind, A-12 Blackbird spy plane, the "Lake Murray" B-25, and an array of experimental aircraft. The Lake Murray B-25C Mitchell bomber crashed in South Carolina during a 1943 training exercise. The right engine was torn off during the crash but the crew was able to escape unharmed before she sank to a depth of 150 feet (46m).
