''Hollyoaks'' is a British soap opera which began airing on Channel 4 on 23 October 1995. It was created by Phil Redmond, who had previously conceived the soap opera ''Brookside (TV series), Brookside''. Since 2005, episodes have been aired on sister channel E4 (TV channel), E4 a day prior to their broadcast on Channel 4. At its inception, the soap was targeted towards an adolescent and young adult audience but has since broadened its appeal to all age groups. ''Hollyoaks'' has covered various taboo subjects rarely seen on British television, for which it has received List of awards and nominations received by Hollyoaks, numerous awards. Elliot Balchin
Elliot Balchin (born 30 June 1990) is a British actor who has had roles in various British television series. Early life and career In 1999, Balchin joined a Nottingham drama workshop run by ITV and remained for ten years. From 2006 until 2009 he also participated in the National Theatre Connections scheme. In 2009 he began a three-year acting course at LAMDA. In 2002, he secured a stage role in ''Ethel and Ernest'' at the Nottingham Playhouse. Balchin has had roles in the BBC medical shows ''Doctors'' and ''Casualty'' plus the ITV dramas ''Bernard's Watch'' and ''Peak Practice''. Grace Black is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks'', played by Tamara Wall. The character made her first on-screen appearance on 8 November 2013. Wall had three auditions for the role on the show's set in Liverpool. The character is introduced as the sister of Clare Devine (Gemma Bissix), who had been killed off in earlier episodes. Peri Lomax is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks''. She is played by Ruby O'Donnell, who made her first screen appearance on 4 October 2013.
