Natasha Donovan
Natasha Donovan is a Métis Canadian illustrator who focuses on comics and children's illustration. She is a member of the Métis Nation of British Columbia. Life and education Though Donovan's "Métis family are the Delarondes and the Morins from Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan," she spent the majority of her life in Vancouver, British Columbia. She is a member of the Métis Nation of British Columbia. Donovan received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of British Columbia. Donovan currently lives in Deming, Washington with her partner, Sky, and their dog, Luna. Career Donovan taught herself how to draw, and before beginning her career in illustration, she worked in academia and magazine publishing at the University of Victoria. Métis
The Métis ( ; Canadian ) are Indigenous peoples who inhabit Canada's three Prairie Provinces, as well as parts of British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, and the Northern United States. They have a shared history and culture which derives from specific mixed European (primarily French) and Indigenous ancestry which became a distinct culture through ethnogenesis by the mid-18th century, during the early years of the North American fur trade. Melanie Gillman is an American queer Genderqueer, non-binary cartoonist, illustrator, and lecturer, specializing in LGBT comics, LGBTQ comics for Young Adult fiction, Young Adult readers, including the webcomic ''As the Crow Flies.'' Their comics have been published by Boom! Studios, Iron Circus Comics, Lion Forge Comics, Slate (magazine), Slate, Vice Media, VICE, Prism Comics, Northwest Press, and The Nib. Traci Sorell is an American author of fiction and nonfiction works for teens and an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation. Personal lifestyle Sorell has spent her life with her family living on the Cherokee Nation tribe's reservation in northeastern Oklahoma by Fort Gibson Lake. Her mother's family has lived in the area since 1838 when Cherokee people were removed from their homelands. She has a younger brother and sister. As a child, Sorell learned about her ancestors from her grandmother, fishing, and caring for animals and the land. She also enjoyed reading, singing, and performing in theater productions. When Sorell was a teenager, she and her family moved to Southern California, and she became the first person in her family to graduate from college.
