Natalie Adams
Natalie Jane Adams (born 1965) is an Australian judge. She has been a judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales since 2016. Adams was born in Narrandera, and was educated at St Joseph's Convent Primary School, St Francis de Sales Regional College at Leeton and the Kincoppal School in Rose Bay, Sydney. She subsequently studied law and economics at the University of Sydney, where she was a resident at Sancta Sophia College graduating with honours in law in 1989, and was admitted as a solicitor in June 1989. She later completed a Master of Laws from the University of New South Wales in 1994, specialising in criminal law. Adams first began practising in commercial law at Freehill Hollingdale & Page. A duty solicitor, duty counsel, or duty lawyer, is a solicitor whose services are available to a person either suspected of, or charged with, a criminal offence free of charge, if that person does not have access to a solicitor of their own and usually if it is judged by a means test that they cannot afford one. Eddie Obeid
Edward Moses Obeid (born 25 October 1943) is a retired Australian politician, and convicted criminal, who served as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council between 1991 and 2011, representing the Labor Party. He was the Minister for Fisheries and the Minister for Mineral Resources from 1999–2003. Prior to the March 2015 expiry of his term in the Legislative Council, Obeid announced his decision to retire early on 10 May 2011, citing family reasons. The title of Senior Counsel or State Counsel (post-nominal letters: SC) is given to a senior lawyer in some countries that were formerly part of the British Empire. Comanchero Motorcycle Club
The Comanchero Motorcycle Club is an outlaw motorcycle gang in Australia. The Comancheros are participants in the United Motorcycle Council of NSW, which convened a conference in 2009 to address legislation aimed against the "bikie" clubs, their poor public image in the wake of several violent clashes and ongoing biker wars, and defusing deadly feuds such as the Comancheros' battles with the Hells Angels. The sincerity of these efforts to defend the battered image of the clubs has been met with skepticism. Barrister
A barrister is a type of lawyer in common law jurisdictions. Barristers mostly specialise in courtroom advocacy and litigation. Their tasks include taking cases in superior courts and tribunals, drafting legal pleadings, researching law and giving expert legal opinions. Barristers are distinguished from both solicitors and chartered legal executives, who have more direct access to clients, and may do transactional legal work. John Newman (Australian Politician)
John Paul Newman (born Johann Grauenig, formerly Naumenko; 8 December 1946 – 5 September 1994) was an Australian politician who served as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1986 until his death. He was 47 when he was shot and killed outside his home in Cabramatta. Phuong Ngo, a local club owner and political opponent who had run against Newman as an independent in 1991, was convicted of Newman's murder in 2001. Newman's death has been described by the media as Australia's first political assassination.
