Muminunnisa Government Mohila College or Muminunnesa College in short, is a women's public college located opposite Town Hall of Mymensingh near the Brahmaputra River in Bangladesh. History It was established in 1946 and was named after Muminunnesa Khan, mother of a businessman M. R. Khan. Initially established as a private college. Renowned social reformer M.R. Khan donated the land and major portion of the finance and helped develop the infrastructure of the college with a view to establishing the college after the name of his mother Muminunnisa. Government Ananda Mohan College is a higher secondary school and National University, Bangladesh affiliated college in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. One of the oldest educational premises in South Asia, the institute was established in 1883 by Ananda Mohan Bose as City Collegiate School during British Raj. History Anandamohan Bose, who founded the City College in 1878, decided to open a branch of it at his home town in Mymensingh. Golam Samdani Quraishy ( bn, গোলাম সামদানী কোরায়শী; 5 April 1929 – 11 October 1991) was a Bangladeshi poet and writer. He was given Independence Day Award posthumously in 2017 by the Government of Bangladesh. Early life and family Golam Samdani Quraishy was born on 5 April 1929 at his mother Altafunnesa's home in the village of Kaurat (presently in Kendua Upazila) in Netrokona, Mymensingh District, Bengal Presidency. His ancestral home was in the village of Bir Ahammadpur in Gouripur. Jatin Sarker
Jatin Sarker (born 25 August 1935) is a Bengali intellectual, researcher and biographer of Bangladesh. He was awarded the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2008 for research and essays and Independence Day Award in 2010 for education. As of September 2021, he has published 35 books. Early life Sarker was born on 25 August 1935 in Chandapara village, Kendua Upazila of Netrokona of the-then Mymensingh district in British India. He was the eldest of three children, two brothers and a sister. He married in 1965 and with his wife Kanon Sarker has one son, namely, Suman Sarker (he lives in Slovakia) and a daughter, namely, Sudipta Sarkar (she lives in Bangladesh). Motiur Rahman (politician, Born 1942)
Motiur Rahman (8 February 1942 – 27 August 2023) was a Bangladesh Awami League politician who served as the Minister of Religious Affairs during 2014–2018. His son Mohit Ur Rahman Shanto won for the Bangladesh Awami League in the 2024 National Parliament election from Mymensingh-4. Early life Motiur Rahman was born on 8 February 1942 in Akua, Mymensingh Sadar Upazila, Mymensingh District in the then Bengal Province, British India.
