Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia
The Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia is the National Health Fund of Poland. It was established by Act of the Sejm of 27 August 2004 on a proposal of Mariusz Lipinski, then the minister of health that there should be just one centralized government institution. Overview NFZ is financed by compulsory health insurance contributions and finances health services provided to insured persons and reimburses the cost of medicines. The President of the Fund is appointed by the Prime Minister at the request of the minister of health after consultation with the Council of the Fund. There is a branch in each of the 16 provinces. In 2015 its income was 69.8 billion Polish złoty and it employed the full-time equivalent of 5,184 people. It runs a ZIP system, where patients can see their treatment history and costs over the last 10 years. Health Care In Poland
Health care in Poland is insurance based, delivered through a publicly funded health care system called the Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia, which is free for all the citizens of Poland provided they fall into the "insured" category (usually meaning that they have health insurance paid for by their employer, or are the spouse or child of an insured person). According to Article 68 of the Polish Constitution everyone has a right to have access to health care. Citizens are granted equal access to the publicly funded healthcare system. In particular, the government is obliged to provide free health care to young children, pregnant women, disabled people, and the elderly. However, private healthcare use is very extensive in Poland. Patients who are uninsured have to pay the full cost of medical services. Adam Wojciech Niedzielski (; born 19 November 1973) is a Polish economist. He is the former President of the National Health Fund and the current Minister of Health of the Republic of Poland. Andrzej Stanisław Sośnierz (born 8 May 1951) is a Polish politician and physician and a current member of the Sejm. Political career He was elected to Sejm on 25 September 2005, getting 54,876 votes in Katowice, standing for Civic Platform. He left the party after criticising the leadership's negative attitude towards a potential coalition with Law and Justice (PiS). After being expelled, in January 2006, he joined PiS, for whom he ran in the 2007 election. In 2010, he left PiS to join Poland Comes First, when that party was created.
