Nardis (composition)
"Nardis" is a composition by American jazz trumpeter Miles Davis. It was written in 1958, during Davis's modal period, to be played by Cannonball Adderley for the album ''Portrait of Cannonball''. The piece has come to be associated with pianist Bill Evans, who performed and recorded it many times. Composition From 1955 to 1958, Miles Davis was leading what would come to be called his First Great Quintet. By 1958, the group consisted of John Coltrane on tenor saxophone, Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums, Richard Cook. Nardis Records
Nardis Music is a jazz record label formed in 2003 by Ben Sidran and his son Leo. It is a subsidiary of Liquid8. It has a compilation series called Nardis Music Presents, which features songs and artists from Nardis and Sidran's GoJazz label. Nardis is marketed by Liquid8 Records and is distributed in the U.S. by Navarre. The Nardis Music logo is "Man in Balance", a sketch drawn by Miles Davis and given to Ben Sidran in 1986. The name "Nardis" comes from a jazz tune most often attributed to Davis but made famous by Bill Evans. It's also "Sidran" spelled backwards. Cascate Nardis
The Nardìs Waterfall is one of the waterfalls of Trentino in Val di Genova, a valley adjacent to Val Rendena. It descents from the Presanella glacier, falling into the valley to 921 m, with an enormous jump of more than 130 meters and the incline between 55° and 65°. The waterfall is surrounded by glacial valleys, and in the winter months it is not possible to visit the location due to the climate. Laura DeNardis is an American author and a scholar of Internet governance and technical infrastructure. She is the Professor and Endowed Chair in Technology, Ethics, and Society at Georgetown University. DeNardis is an affiliated Fellow of the Yale Information Society Project at Yale Law School and served as its Executive Director from 2008-2011. She previously served as a Senior Fellow of the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and the Director of Research for the Global Commission on Internet Governance. With a background in information technology engineering and a doctorate in Science and Technology Studies (STS), her research studies the social and political implications of Internet technical architecture and governance.
