Narara () is a suburb just north of Gosford on the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the local government area. The suburb is mostly residential but also holds Narara railway station on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. The Central Coast is a peri-urban region in New South Wales, Australia, lying on the Tasman Sea coast to the north of Sydney and south of Newcastle. The local government area of the Central Coast Council has an estimated population of 333,627 as of June 2018, growing by 1% annually. Comprising localities such as Gosford, Wyong and Terrigal, the area is the third-largest urban area in New South Wales and the ninth-largest urban area in Australia. Darkinjung People
The Darkinjung (not to be confused with the Darkinyung people further inland) are the Local Aboriginal Land Council in the Central Coast, New South Wales, area of Australia and a major landowner on the Central Coast, participating in formal joint management of some areas of state forest in the region. It represents over 450 local Aboriginal residents. The Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council are self-appointed caretakers of the Central Coast of NSW Australia. They do not claim to be the traditional owners of the area in which they reside. The Darkinjung people are believed to have died out in the late 19th century due to the effects of disease and dispossession. Darkinjung Aboriginal Land Council represents the interests of the Aboriginal residents of the Darkinjung lands, but those Aboriginal residents come from other Aboriginal groups. The Angels (Australian Band)
The Angels are an Australian rock band which formed in Adelaide in 1974 as The Keystone Angels by Bernard "Doc" Neeson on lead vocals and bass guitar, John Brewster on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, his brother Rick Brewster on lead guitar and backing vocals, Peter "Charlie" King on drums. In 1976, King was replaced by Graham "Buzz" Bidstrup on drums, Chris Bailey took over bass duties so Neeson could focus solely on vocals, and they changed their name to just 'The Angels'. Their studio albums peaking within the Australian top 10 are ''No Exit'' (1979), ''Dark Room'' (1980), '' Night Attack'' (1981), ''Two Minute Warning'' (1984), ''Howling'' (1986) and ''Beyond Salvation'' (1990). Narara Music Festival
The Narara Music Festival was an outdoor music festival held on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia in 1983 and 1984. Despite the name, it was actually held at Somersby, a short distance from Narara. Narara is the original clan name of the local Darkinjung people 1983 The 1983 concert ran over the Australia Day long weekend, from Friday 28th to Monday 31 January 1983. The event featured an all Australian music bill and comedian Austen Tayshus as M.C. Australian bands and artists that appeared at the event include: * INXS * Men at Work * Cold Chisel * The Angels * The Choirboys * Uncanny X-Men * The Church * Australian Crawl * Margret Roadknight Between 30,000 and 45,000 people are believed to have attended this concert. Scouting And Guiding In New South Wales
Scouting started in New South Wales, a State of Australia, in 1908. In the early years, local Boy Scout patrols and troops formed independently and several separate associations began operating including the Chums Scout Patrols, League of Boy Scouts, Girl Peace Scouts, Boys Brigade Scouts and Church Lads Brigade Scouts. These were later joined by The Boy Scouts Association, The Girl Guides Association and Life-Saving Scouts and Life Saving Guards of the Salvation Army. Some local Scout groups moved affiliation between the different associations. Neckerchief
A neckerchief (from ''neck'' (n.) + ''kerchief''), sometimes called a necker, kerchief or scarf, is a type of neckwear associated with those working or living outdoors, including farm labourers, cowboys and sailors. It is most commonly still seen today in the Scouts, Girl Guides and other similar youth movements. A neckerchief consists of a triangular piece of cloth or a rectangular piece folded into a triangle. The long edge is rolled towards the point, leaving a portion unrolled. The neckerchief is then fastened around the neck with the ends either tied or clasped with a slide or woggle. Naval Neckerchiefs worn by sailors are shaped like a square, and are folded in half diagonally before rolling, with rolling occurring from the tip of the resulting triangle to its hypotenuse. Narara Valley High School
Narara Valley High School (abbreviated as NVHS) is a government-funded co-educational comprehensive secondary day school, located in Narara, in the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. The school caters for approximately 800 students in 2020, from Year 7 to Year 12, of whom eight percent identified as Indigenous Australians and eleven percent were from a language background other than English. The school is operated by the NSW Department of Education; and the current principal is Mr. Andrew Skehan. Central Coast & Newcastle Line
The Central Coast & Newcastle Line is a NSW TrainLink passenger train service that runs along the Main North railway line in New South Wales, connecting the state's two largest cities, Sydney and Newcastle. The service runs from through to on the Main North railway line to Newcastle Interchange on the Newcastle railway line, and services the Hawkesbury River region, the Central Coast and the city of Newcastle.
