''Napoléon'' is a 1927 French Silent film, silent Epic film, epic historical film, produced, and directed by Abel Gance that tells the story of Napoleon's early years. On screen, the title is ''Napoléon vu par Abel Gance'', meaning "Napoleon as seen by Abel Gance". The film is recognised as a masterwork of fluid camera motion, produced in a time when most camera shots were static. Albert Dieudonné
Albert Dieudonné (26 November 1889 – 19 March 1976) was a French actor, screenwriter, film director and novelist. Biography Dieudonné was born in Paris, France, and made his acting debut in silent film in 1908 for ''The Assassination of the Duke of Guise'', with musical score by Camille Saint-Saëns. In 1924, he directed the film drama ''Catherine'', in which he also appeared as a major character. Jean Renoir acted as his assistant director on the film. Between 1915 and 1916, Dieudonné acted in five films for director Abel Gance, including the 1915 film ''La Folie du Docteur Tube'' and the 1916 film '' Le périscope''. In 1927 he was hired back to star in the title role in Gance's epic film, ''Napoléon''. In 1929 Dieudonné wrote a novel that was made into a 1930 musical comedy film titled ''The Sweetness of Loving'', and he wrote the script for the 1936 '' La Garçonne''. Brienne-le-Château () is a commune in the Aube department in north-central France. It is located from the right bank of the river Aube and 26 miles northeast of Troyes. Keller-Dorian Cinematography
Keller-Dorian cinematography was a French technique from the 1920s for filming movies in color, using a lenticular process to separate red, green and blue colors and record them on a single frame of black-and-white film. Keller-Dorian was primarily a manufacturer of paper and aluminum foil (tin foil). It was granted 38 patents. While researching how to create dies to color aluminum foil, they accidentally stumbled on this cinematography technique. This additive color system differs from other systems, for example Technicolor, which divided the colors into more than one frame on one or more pieces of film. In film and video production, split screen is the visible division of the screen, traditionally in half, but also in several simultaneous images, rupturing the illusion that the screen's frame is a seamless view of reality, similar to that of the human eye. Film tinting is the process of adding color to black-and-white film, usually by means of soaking the film in dye and staining the film emulsion. The effect is that all of the light shining through is filtered, so that what would be white light becomes light of some color.
