Naomi Wilzig
Naomi Wilzig (December 5, 1934 – April 7, 2015) was an American erotic art collector. She was the founder and director of the World Erotic Art Museum in Miami Beach, Florida, which contains her collection. Early years Wilzig was one of six children born to real estate developer H. Jerome Sisselman, known as the Hackensack Meadowlands czar, who amassed a large tract of land to build Berry’s Creek Center. Wilzig was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1934. Wilzig graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark, and attended New Jersey’s Montclair State Teachers College, currently Montclair State University. In the early 1950s she married Siggi Wilzig, an Auschwitz survivor and an early leader of the U.S. Holocaust Museum, as well as president of the Trust Company of New Jersey until his death in 2003. World Erotic Art Museum
The World Erotic Art Museum, located in the heart of the Miami Beach, Florida Art Deco District, is a museum, library, and education think tank that uses its collection to illustrate the history of erotic art. It contains the collection of Naomi Wilzig. Collection The collection includes sculptures, drawings, paintings, and photographs. The collection ranges from folk art to the work of famous artists. The Museum shows artwork from artists like Rembrandt, Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Fernando Botero as well as Robert Mapplethorpe, Helmut Newton and Bunny Yeager to name just a few out of more than 4000. The Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality (IASHS) was a private, non-accredited, for-profit graduate school and resource center for the field of sexology in San Francisco, California. It was established in 1976 and closed in 2018. Degree and certificate programs focused on public health, sex therapy, and sexological research. The institute developed out of research in the 1960s highlighting the general lack of understanding and formal training in human sexuality. Its library and archives were a collection of adult films, academic sexological and erotological resources, and sex therapy training materials. The Holocaust Memorial of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation is a Holocaust memorial at 1933-1945 Meridian Avenue, in Miami Beach, Florida. It was conceived by a committee of Holocaust survivors in 1984, formally established in 1985 as the Holocaust Memorial Committee, a non-profit organization. The memorial was designed by Kenneth Treister on a site designated by the City of Miami Beach Commission at Meridian Avenue and Dade Boulevard. This site was previously the home of Holocaust survivors William and Florrie Loeb and their son Robert, who immigrated from Rotterdam, Netherlands after the bombing and occupation by the Nazis. They purchased the home in the 1940s and Florrie sold it to the city of Miami Beach in the early 1970s who had plans to make it into a parking lot.
