Nanouk Leopold
Nanouk Leopold (born 25 July 1968) is a Dutch film maker. She graduated from Dutch film school in 1997, starting off by making films for Dutch television. In 2001, she released her first feature film ''Îles flottantes'' (''"Floating Islands''), as part of the ''No More Heroes'' project which also included the feature film debut of directors Martin Koolhoven and Michiel van Jaarsveld. ''Îles flottantes'' was selected for the Tiger Awards of the Rotterdam Film Festival. Her long-awaited follow-up came in 2005 when she made ''Guernsey'', which earned her two awards at the Dutch Film Festival and got her selected for Une Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at the Cannes Film Festival. After that she directed '' Wolfsbergen'' (2007), which premiered at the Berlinale, as did her next movie: '' Brownian Movement'', her first English spoken film. Brownian Movement (film)
Brownian motion, or pedesis (from grc, πήδησις "leaping"), is the random motion of particles suspended in a medium (a liquid or a gas). This pattern of motion typically consists of random fluctuations in a particle's position inside a fluid sub-domain, followed by a relocation to another sub-domain. Each relocation is followed by more fluctuations within the new closed volume. This pattern describes a fluid at thermal equilibrium, defined by a given temperature. Within such a fluid, there exists no preferential direction of flow (as in transport phenomena). More specifically, the fluid's overall linear and angular momenta remain null over time. The 63rd annual Berlin International Film Festival took place in Berlin, Germany between 7 and 17 February 2013. Chinese film director Wong Kar-wai was announced as the President of the Jury and his film '' The Grandmaster'' was the opening film of the festival. The Golden Bear was awarded to the Romanian film '' Child's Pose'' directed by Călin Peter Netzer, which also served as the closing film. The French documentary filmmaker Claude Lanzmann was awarded with the Honorary Golden Bear. Gerbrand Bakker (novelist)
Gerbrand Bakker (born 28 April 1962) is a Dutch writer. He won the International Dublin Literary Award for ''The Twin (novel), The Twin'', the English translation of his novel ''Boven is het stil'', and the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize for ''The Detour (novel), The Detour'', the English translation of his novel ''De omweg''. Biography Bakker is a gardener by trade, having acquired his gardening license in 2006. He says writing and gardening are compatible. Bakker works as a skating instructor in winters. He has previously worked as a subtitler for Dutch TV, particularly on the U.S. soap opera ''The Bold and the Beautiful''. The Berlin International Film Festival (german: Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin), usually called the Berlinale (), is a major international film festival held annually in Berlin, Germany.
