Nandalike Balachandra Rao
Nandalike Balachandra Rao (born 12.03.1953) is the son of Nandalike Subba Rao and Girijamma. He did his B.A. from Govt. college, Mangalore and Diploma in public relations and journalism from Mysore University. Former banker Nandalike Balachandra Rao, who made meaningful efforts to immortalise Kannada poet laureate Kavi Muddana’s works, was conferred the Kavi Muddanna Award. Muddana (Kannada:ಮುದ್ದಣ) (January 24, 1870 – February 15, 1901) - was a Kannada poet, writer a Yakshagana poet from Nandalike. Recently his book ‘Kumara Vijaya’ got released at Tulu Parba. Mysore University
The University of Mysore is a public state university in Mysore, Karnataka, India. The university was founded during the reign of Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV, the Maharaja of Mysore. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission for offering higher studies degree courses on-campus as well as online. It was inaugurated on 27 July 1916. Kannada
Kannada (; ಕನ್ನಡ, ), originally romanised Canarese, is a Dravidian language spoken predominantly by the people of Karnataka in southwestern India, with minorities in all neighbouring states. Muddana
Nandalike Lakshminaranappa, known by his pseudonym Muddana ( Kannada:ಮುದ್ದಣ; 24 January 1870 – 15 February 1901), was a Kannada writer and a Yakshagana poet. He was also known as ''Mahakavi'' ("Great Poet") or ''Mahakavi Muddana''. His best known works include ''Ratnavati Kalyaana''(Yakshagana), ''Sri Rama Pattaabhisheka'', ''Adbhuta Ramayana'' and ''Sri Ramashwamedha''.He coined the word ''Kannadam Kasthuriyanthe'', where he heartily compares his beloved language Kannada to Kasthuri. Yakshagana Poetry
Yakshagana poetry (Kannada:ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಪ್ರಸ೦ಗ, pronounced as ''yaksha-gaana prasanga'')(Yakshagana Padya or Yakshagana Prasanga) is a collection of Kannada poems used to enact a music dance drama called Yakshagana. The poems are composed in well known Kannada metres using the frame work of Yakshagana Raga and Yakshagana Tala. Yakshagana also has what is called a Yakshagana metre. The collection of Yakshagana poems forming a musical drama is called a Prasanga.
