Nancy Mayer
Nancy Mayer is an American politician who most recently served as the state Treasurer of Rhode Island from 1993 to 1998. She was the first Republican Treasurer of Rhode Island since Thomas P. Hazard in 1940 and the last Republican Treasurer of Rhode Island as of 2022. She has been credited with introducing and implementing a number of reforms, both in the Office of the General Treasurer and in the General Assembly. The General Treasurer of Rhode Island is one of the five general state officers directly elected by the voters and serves as the custodian of state funds for the Rhode Island government. Classes Of United States Senators
The 100 seats in the United States Senate are divided into three classes for the purpose of determining which seats will be up for election in any two-year cycle, with only one class being up for election at a time. With senators being elected to fixed terms of six years, the classes allow about a third of the seats to be up for election in any presidential or midterm election year instead of having all 100 be up for election at the same time every six years. The seats are also divided in such a way that any given state's two senators are in different classes so that each seat's term ends in different years. Claudine Schneider (née Cmarada; born March 25, 1947) is an American economist and former politician who served as a Republican U.S. representative from Rhode Island. She was the first, and to date only, woman elected to Congress from Rhode Island.
