Nancy Lenoil
Nancy Zimmelman Lenoil is an American who served as the State Archivist of California from 2006-2019. Synopsis Nancy Ann Zimmelman was born in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of William and Phyllis (Bargebuhr) Zimmelman. Her father was an engineer and instructor in his 42 year career for Ford Motor Company. She earned a bachelor's degree in history from Oakland University and a master's degree in history, with graduate certificate in archival administration, from Wayne State University. She moved to the Sacramento, California region in 1987 for a ten month fellowship in archival administration, which turned into a 31 year career at the California State Archives. She married Robert Lenoil in 2007, and had boy/girl twins in 2010. Debra Lynn Bowen (born October 27, 1955) is an American attorney and politician who served as the Secretary of State of California from 2007 to 2015. Previously, she was a member of the California State Legislature from 1992 to 2006. In March 2008, she was given the Profile in Courage Award by the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. The Academy of Certified Archivists is an American independent, nonprofit organization of professional archivists founded in 1989. History The professional qualifications of archivists became an issue in the 1950s, when the Society of American Archivists (SAA) and the American Historical Association made the case that the archivist of the United States should be a professional, not political, appointee. California State Archives
In the United States of America, state library agencies established in each state have long been a catalyst for a great deal of the motivation for public library cooperation. This has been since the founding of the movement, starting in 1890 when Massachusetts created a state Board of Library Commissioners charged to help communities establish and improve public libraries. Over the years, state library agencies played a major role in encouraging larger units of service to provide library resources.
