Nan Nakhon Airport
Nan Nakhon Airport ( th, ท่าอากาศยานน่านนคร) or formerly Nan Airport () serves Nan, the capital city of Nan Province, Thailand. Flights are available only one destination: Bangkok (BKK and DMK). In 2014, a new terminal further down airport road replaced the old terminal. The same runways are still used. Upon arrival and departure, passengers are required to walk to the terminal or the plane, as no ramps extend from the terminal. Department Of Airports (Thailand)
The Department of Airports (DOA) ( th, กรมท่าอากาศยาน) is a Thai government department under the Ministry of Transport. It operates 28 civil airports throughout the country. The department was split off from the Department of Civil Aviation in 2015, part of a restructuring response to ICAO's downgrading of Thailand's aviation safety rating. The other agency that previously formed part of the old department is the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand. Operations Only 17 DOA airports turned a profit between 2009 and 2016 while the total number of passengers jumped 25 percent. In 2018, DOA's revenues from its 28 airports was 853 million baht. Krabi airport alone contributed 469 million baht. Udon Thani is also in the black, with profits reaching 100 million baht a year. Phrae Airport
Phrae Airport ( th, ท่าอากาศยานแพร่) is an airport serving Phrae, a town in the Phrae Province of Thailand. History Phrae Airport was built during World War 2 with a gravel runway. After the war ended, the airport operator was given to Royal Thai Air Force for them to maintain. Then, Phrae Airport was developed by Department of Commercial Aviation (Thailand) in 1952 for passenger and airmail uses by upgrading the runway to be 30 x 1,200 meters and building a terminal. In 1971 - 1973 Department of Civil Aviation (Thailand) upgraded the runway, taxiway, and tarmac's material to be asphalt concrete, and extending the runway again to be 1,500 meters long. In 1974 - 1975, the current terminal was built, and was expanded in 1981 - 1982 to 250 square meters. The terminal was expanded again in 1990 to 432 square meters, and installed air conditioners. Wisdom Airways was a regional airline operating in North-Western Thailand, with a base in Chiang Mai. On 1 October 2019, the airline ceased all operations permanently. History The airline sought to take over the routes of Kan Air after it went out of business. Although the airline employed the same pilots and operated the same routes as Kan Air, it denied any links to it. The airline began operations on 1 December 2017. On 1 October 2019, the airline announced on their official Facebook page that they would be suspending all operations until further notice. Kannithi Aviation Co. Ltd, operated as Kan Air, was a small airline with its hub at Chiang Mai Airport. Kan Air operated charter and scheduled services in Thailand. As of September 2016, Kan Air flew nine routes. Flights from Chiang Mai were to Mae Hong Son, Pai, Nan, Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani, Phitsanulok, Hua Hin, Chiang Rai, and U-Tapao. On 21 April 2017, Kan Air suspended all of its operations. History Kan Air, owned by Kannithi Aviation Company Limited, started operations on 24 September 2010. PBair was an airline with its head office in the UBC II Building in Vadhana, Bangkok, Thailand. It operated scheduled domestic and international services. Its main base was Suvarnabhumi Airport. It ceased all operations in December 2009. History The airline was founded in 1990 by Piya Bhirom Bhakdi, the president of the Boon Rawd Brewery, the largest in Thailand. It was originally used for flights for brewery staff only. In 1995, it received a license to offer charter flights and started operations in 1997.
