	Namozine Creek Namozine Creek is a U.S. Geological Survey. National Hydrography Dataset high-resolution flowline dataThe National Map accessed April 1, 2011 stream in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is a right-bank tributary of the Appomattox River. Rising in Nottoway County 6 miles (10 km) northeast of the town of Blackstone, Namozine Creek forms the boundary between Dinwiddie County to the south and Nottoway and Amelia counties to the north for nearly its entire length. It flows generally east-northeast, and joins the Appomattox River at Lake Chesdin west of Petersburg. Early spellings of the name on property records include "Nummisseen" and "Nammisseen"; numerous variants more similar to the modern spelling, such as "Namozain", "Namozeen", and "Namozene", arose slightly later. "Nummisseen" appears to be of Native American origin, and may have been the name of a tribe who once lived in the area. 	Namozine, Virginia Namozine is a rural unincorporated community near the eastern extremity of Amelia County, just south of the Appomattox River in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is the easternmost hamlet in the county and is situated around the intersections of SR 708 (Namozine Road) with SR 623 (Chesdin Lake Road) and SR 622 (Greenes Road north, Mill Quarter Road south). Roughly 2 miles to the southeast, Namozine Creek forms the county line, flowing northeast into the Appomattox at Lake Chesdin. 	Burkle Addressing System The Burkle addressing system is a system of assigning road names and addresses over a large, rural geographical area. It is used in the state of North Dakota for rural addresses to be used for the 911 system as well as mail delivery to rural properties. Because of its use in the 911 system, it is enshrined in North Dakota state law and is used across the state. History The system was created by the Stark County, North Dakota emergency coordinator Kornard Burkle in 1988 as a way of assigning addresses to houses for use in the then soon to be implemented enhanced 911 services in Stark County.
