Nambucca (venue)
Nambucca is a live music venue in Holloway Road in London. Since being rebuilt following a fire it now houses two distinct areas in a big open plan venue - a front bar area and a rear dancefloor and gig area. It is popular with up-and-coming bands and hosts music and entertainment events on a nightly basis. In the mid-part of the 2000s Nambucca provided a platform for many of the forerunners of the London Indie folk, nu-folk scene, with artists such as Frank Turner, Marcus Mumford, Beans On Toast (musician), Beans on Toast and Laura Marling performing there regularly. It also was a staple of the burgeoning indie-scene led by The Libertines and many successful bands performed early gigs there including The Holloways who were actually formed at the venue and played their first gig there. Wolf Alice
Wolf Alice are an English rock band from London, England. Formed in 2010 as an acoustic duo comprising singer Ellie Rowsell and guitarist Joff Oddie, Wolf Alice have also featured bassist Theo Ellis and drummer Joel Amey since 2012. Wolf Alice played their first gig at Highbury Garage, December 2010 supporting April in the Shade, after Rowsell and Oddie met the band at an open mic at the Hope and Anchor, Islington. They released their debut single " Fluffy" in February 2013 and followed it with " Bros" in May. They released their debut EP '' Blush'' in October, and its follow-up '' Creature Songs'' in May 2014. Fat White Family are an English rock band, formed in 2011 in Peckham, South London. History The band, fronted by Southampton-born and Cookstown-raised Lias Kaci Saoudi, formed in 2011. Lead guitarist Saul Adamczewski was previously the frontman of indie pop band the Metros, which also featured Fat White Family's bass player, Joe Pancucci. The Wombats are an English indie rock band formed in Liverpool in 2003, consisting of Matthew Murphy (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Tord Øverland Knudsen (bass, backing vocals, keyboards), and Dan Haggis (drums, backing vocals, keyboards). The Holloways
The Holloways are an English four-piece indie rock band from North London. Their single " Generator" reached number 14 in the UK Singles Chart on 11 June 2007. They have had five No.1 singles on the UK Indie Chart and several Top 40 singles. Their debut album, ''So This Is Great Britain?'', was awarded 8 out of 10 by '' NME''. Former band member Rob Skipper died on 3 October 2014 in Brighton from a heroin overdose. Holloway Road
Holloway Road is a road in London, in length. It is one of the main shopping streets in North London, and carries the A1 road as it passes through Holloway, in the London Borough of Islington. The road starts in Archway, near Archway Underground station, then heads south-east, past Upper Holloway railway station, Whittington Park, past the North London campus of London Metropolitan University near Nag's Head, past Holloway Road Underground station, and the main campus of the university, and then becomes Highbury Corner, near Highbury & Islington station. The Libertines
The Libertines are an English rock band, formed in London in 1997 by frontmen Carl Barât (vocals/guitar) and Pete Doherty (vocals/guitar). The band, centred on the songwriting partnership of Barât and Doherty, has also included John Hassall (bass), and Gary Powell (drums) for most of its recording career. The band was part of the garage rock revival and spearheaded the movement in the UK. Laura Beatrice Marling (born 1 February 1990) is a British folk singer-songwriter.
