Seen from the Vistasvagge valley in the south east, one part of the mountain has a characteristic, extremely sharp appearance which has given it its Sami name, which in English means ''The Needle''. The mountain reaches to 1585 meters above sea level.Lantmäteriet BD6 map, 2006 The top of the mountain can be reached from north-west without any particular equipment; this requires merely a hike through rough rock terrain. The top of the "needle", however, is about a hundred meters lower in elevation than the actual peak and climbing it requires exposed scrambling on a narrow ridge. Stuor Räitavagge
Stuor Räitavagge () is a valley in the Kebnekaise massif, in the Kiruna Municipality. It extends from Vistasvagge in the east to Tjäktjapasset in the west, being relatively wide and easy to travel through. There are no roads or marked pathways in it. Kebnekaise
Kebnekaise (; from Sami or , "Cauldron Crest") is the highest mountain in Sweden. The Kebnekaise massif, which is part of the Scandinavian mountain range, has two main peaks. The glaciated southern peak used to be the highest at above sea level, but has shrunk by 24 meters during the last 50 years, making the northern icefree peak at the highest. Kebnekaise lies in Swedish Lapland, about north of the Arctic Circle and west of Kiruna near the Kungsleden hiking trail between Abisko and Hemavan. Geography The Kebnekaise massif lies within a range of the Scandinavian mountains that is bordered by the glacial valleys Ladtjovagge (Sami spelling Láddjuvággi), Tjäktjavagge (Čeakčavággi) and Vistasvagge (Visttasvággi).
