Naky Sy Savané
Naky Sy Savané (born 1970) is a film, television, and stage actress from Côte d'Ivoire. The granddaughter of an imam, Naky Sy Savané became an actress despite conservative Muslim prejudice against the profession. She played numerous stage roles, including in Jean Racine's ''Britannicus'' and the title role in Jean Anouilh's ''Antigone''. She credits film director Henri Duparc for discovering her in the theater and starting her film career. For her performance in ''Au Nom du Christ'' (1993), she was awarded Best Actress at the 1994 Festival du Cinéma Africain de Khouribga. In Fanta Régina Nacro's '' La Nuit de la vérité'' (2004), she plays Emma, the wife of the president of a fictional country in the midst of a civil war who loses her young son in a massacre. Ivory Coast, also known as Côte d'Ivoire, officially the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, is a country on the southern coast of West Africa. Sidiki Bakaba
Sidiki Bakaba (born in Abengourou, 1949) is an actor, scenario writer and director from Côte d'Ivoire. He lives and works in Abidjan. After studying at the National School of Drama of Abidjan, he conducted training at the Living Theatre and with Grotowski. In 2000, he became the director of the Palace of Culture of Abidjan (Palais de la Culture d'Abidjan) located at Treichville. He also founded the Actor's Studio (an actor training school in the Palace of Culture) Along with a significant acting career, he produced fiction films, documentaries such as ''Les Guérisseurs'' (1988) which won the award for best music at the Francophone Film Festival, as well as the Voice of Hope at FESPACO Ouagadougou in 1989. Apolline Traoré (born 1976) is a Burkinabé filmmaker and producer. Biography She was born in 1976 in Ouagadougou. Her father's profession, a diplomat, led to her travelling the world. At the age of 17, her family moved to the United States and she began her studies at Emerson College in Boston, a well known institution in the field of art and communication. In the 2000s, she directed several short films, including ''The Price of Ignorance'' in 2000 (about a Bostonian rape victim) and ''Kounandi'' in 2003, which was selected for the 2004 Toronto International Film Festival. She produced her own feature film, ''Sous la clarté de la lune'', in 2004. She returned to Burkina Faso in 2005 and started working with Idrissa Ouédraogo. In 2008, she directed a television series, ''Le testament''.
