Nakorotubu
Nakorotubu is one of nineteen districts in Fiji's Ra Province. It consists of seven sub-districts or sub-regions: the five villages of Namarai, Nacobau, Nadavacia, Saioko and Verevere. Nakorotubu also refers to one of the four main traditional regions (with Saivou, Nalawa, Rakiraki) of Ra with the referral traditional title of Gonesau and covers the geographical area of seven of the nineteen districts or sub regions ''(tikina makawa)'' of Ra: Nakorotubu, Bureiwai, Kavula, Bureivanua, Nakuailava, Mataso and Navitilevu. History Nakorotubu recorded significant tribal war victories around the country that include the Puakaloa or Vuakaloa campaign, the conquer of the chiefly Kedekede fort of the Vuanirewa clan in Lakeba, Lau and the conquer of the whole of Vanua Levu (Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata) in the' Torotorosila campaign'. Ra Province
Ra is one of the fourteen provinces of Fiji. Occupying the northern area of Viti Levu, the largest island, it is one of eight Viti Levu-based Provinces. With a land area of 1341 square kilometers, it had a population of 30,432 at the 2017 census. The main urban centre is at Vaileka, with a population of 3,361 in 1996. Lala Sukuna
Ratu Sir Josefa Lalabalavu Vanayaliyali Sukuna (22 April 1888 – 30 May 1958) was a Fijian chief, scholar, soldier, and statesman. He is regarded as the forerunner of the Modern Fiji, post-independence leadership of Fiji. He did more than anybody to lay the groundwork for self-government by fostering the development of modern institutions in Fiji, and although he died a dozen years before independence from the United Kingdom was achieved in 1970, his vision set the course that Fiji was to follow in the years to come. Lineage Sukuna was born into a chiefly family on Bau (island), Bau, off the island of Viti Levu, the largest island in the Fiji archipelago. His father, Joni Madraiwiwi I, Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi, was the son of the Bau Island, Bauan noble and rebel leader Mara Kapaiwai, Ratu Mara Kapaiwai.
