Nakornping Hospital ( th, โรงพยาบาลนครพิงค์) is a hospital located in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It is the second largest hospital in Chiang Mai with an in-patient capacity of 742 beds as of 2022. It is now serving as the regional hospital of Chiang Mai province. It is a CPIRD Medical Education Center for the School of Medicine, University of Phayao. The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH; th, กระทรวงสาธารณสุข, ) is a Thai governmental body responsible for the oversight of public health in Thailand. It is commonly referred to in Thailand by its abbreviation ''so tho'' (). History In Thailand before 1888 there were no permanent, public hospitals to provide care to sick people. Temporary hospitals were set up to care for patients during epidemics, then disbanded when the epidemic subsided. The School of Medicine, University of Phayao () is a medical school in Mueang Phayao District, Phayao Province. History In 2007, a school of medical sciences was established at the Naresuan University Phayao IT Campus and initially admitted students for the Physical Therapy, Medical Technology and Public Health branches. Following changes in the structure of the university and in preparation for the creation of the new University of Phayao, the planned medical course would be taught in a separate medical school. The University of Phayao (UP) ( th, มหาวิทยาลัยพะเยา) is a university in Phayao Province in northern Thailand. Its previous name was Naresuan University, Phayao Campus. The university later split from NU and changed its name to University of Phayao in 2010, registered as the 79th university of Thailand. History On 20th June 1995, a proposal to set up a new university was approved by the cabinet. Later on 8th October 1996, the cabinet had a resolution to call this university Naresuan University, Phayao IT Campus. Hospitals in Thailand are operated by both the public and private sector, to provide medical services for prevention, cure and rehabilitation of patients with medical and health-related conditions.
