Najeeb Kanthapuram is an Indian politician belonging to Indian Union Muslim League. He was elected as a member of Kerala Legislative Assembly from Perinthalmanna on 2 May 2021. Early life Najeeb Kanthapuram was born to Muhammad Master at Kozhikode on 20 April 1975. He was graduated as a Bachelor of Arts from Farook College, Kozhikode, and as a Bachelor of Education from University of Calicut in the year 1996. He was a journalist who worked with Chandrika (newspaper) over 20 years. He worked in Chandrika (newspaper) in different roles and resigned while he was working as Chief Sub Editor. He has started his political career as unit president of Muslim Students Federation. ''Chandrika'' () is an Indian daily newspaper in Malayalam language published from Kozhikode, Kerala. The newspaper currently serves as the mouthpiece of Indian Union Muslim League party in Kerala. The Chandrika started publishing from Tellicherry (1932) as a monthly platform for north Kerala Muslim community uplift and with a 'reformist' orientation. Its establishment was led by leading local Muslims such as A. K. Kunjumayin Haji, Sattar Sait and K. M. Seethi Sahib. K. K. Muhammad Shafi and C. P. Mammu Keyi were first editor and managing editor of the publication respectively. It became a daily newspaper in 1939. Perinthalmanna
Perinthalmanna is a major town and municipality in Malappuram district, Kerala, India. It serves as the headquarters of the Perinthalmanna taluk, and a block and a Revenue Division by the same name. It was formerly the headquarters of Valluvanad Taluk, which was one of the two Taluks in Malappuram Revenue Division of the erstwhile Malabar District during the British Raj. 2021 Kerala Legislative Assembly Election
The 2021 Kerala Legislative Assembly election was held in Kerala on 6 April 2021 to elect 140 members to the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly. The results were declared on 2 May. The election saw the incumbent Left Democratic Front (LDF) retaining power with 99 seats, 8 more than in the previous election, marking the first time that an alliance won consecutive terms in the state since its 1977 election. The United Democratic Front (UDF) won the remaining 41 seats, 6 less than in the previous election. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was unable to win any seats after losing their lone seat the election.
