The Nairobi Light Rail system was announced in 2016. A financing deal was signed with France in 2019, and the project is expected to be complete by 2021. Thika Road
Thika Thika (pronounced ˆÎ¸ika is an industrial town and a major commerce hub in Kiambu County, Kenya, lying on the A2 road 42 kilometres (26 mi) Northeast of Nairobi, near the confluence of the Thika and Chania Rivers. Although Thika town is administratively in Kiambu County, the greater area comprises residential areas such as Bendor estate, Maporomoko, Thika Greens, Thika Golden Pearl, Bahati Ridge, and Thika Sports Club, among others that are within Murang'a County. As of the 2019 National Census, Thika had a population of 279,429, which is growing rapidly, as is the greater Nairobi area. Its elevation is approximately 1,631 metres (5,351 ft). Ngong Road
Ngong Road is a major road in Kenya that links the city of Nairobi to Ngong town. It runs from the Nairobi central business district all the way to the Ngong Stadium, passing by major places in Nairobi and Ngong such as the Kenyatta National Hospital, The Junction Mall, the Lang'ata Road roundabout in Karen and the Ngong Market. The road is currently a standard carriageway with two traffic lanes, but the Kenyan government plans to turn the road into a four-lane dual carriageway by February 2015, with financing from the Japan International Cooperation Agency, at a cost of KSh.1.68 billion/= (approx. US$19.35 million, £11.47 million sterling or €13.95 million), as part the Vision 2030 project. Ongata Rongai
Ongata Rongai (also known as Ronga in local slang) is a town located in Kajiado North, Kajiado County, Kenya. The town is situated south of the Nairobi CBD and East of the Ngong hills and within the greater Nairobi Metropolitan Region. It lies 1,731 meters (5,682 feet) above sea level. Limuru Road
Limuru is a town in central Kenya. It is also the name of a parliamentary constituency and an administrative division. The population of the town, as of 2004, was about 4,800. The Nairobi Commuter Rail (NCR) is a network of diesel trains serving Nairobi and its suburbs. In 2020, 13,000 daily passengers used this service. After being modernized, the NCR was inaugurated by president Uhuru Kenyatta on 10 November 2020.
