The ''Daily Nation'' is the highest circulation Kenyan independent newspaper with 170,000 copies. History The ''Daily Nation'' was started in the year 1958 as a Swahili language, Swahili weekly called ''Taifa'' by the Englishman Charles Hayes. It was bought in 1959 by the Aga Khan IV, Aga Khan, and became a daily newspaper, ''Taifa Leo'' (Swahili for "Nation Today"), in January 1960. An English language edition called ''Daily Nation'' was published on 3 October 1960, in a process organised by former editor of the British ''News Chronicle'', Michael Curtis (journalist), Michael Curtis. Nairobi Northern Bypass Highway
Nairobi Northern Bypass Highway is a road in Kenya, the largest economy in the East African Community. It connects the neighbourhood of Ruaka to the neighborhood of Ruiru, both in Kiambu County. Location This road starts in the Ruaka neighbourhood, approximately , north-west of the central business district of Nairobi, the capital and largest city of Kenya. From Ruaka, the road travels in a general easterly direction through Runda. It briefly crosses into Kiambu County, passes above Kiambu Road, re-enters Nairobi County and continues to Marurui in Kasarani. At Marurui, the road takes a north-easterly direction, crosses Kamiti Road, then passes through Kahawa West and the Kenyatta University Hospital and re-enters Kiambu County at the Kamiti River bridge near Membley Estate and Kiwanja (Nairobi County) neighbourhoods. Thika Road
Thika Thika (pronounced ˆÎ¸ika is an industrial town and a major commerce hub in Kiambu County, Kenya, lying on the A2 road 42 kilometres (26 mi) Northeast of Nairobi, near the confluence of the Thika and Chania Rivers. Although Thika town is administratively in Kiambu County, the greater area comprises residential areas such as Bendor estate, Maporomoko, Thika Greens, Thika Golden Pearl, Bahati Ridge, and Thika Sports Club, among others that are within Murang'a County. As of the 2019 National Census, Thika had a population of 279,429, which is growing rapidly, as is the greater Nairobi area. Its elevation is approximately 1,631 metres (5,351 ft). Nairobi Eastern Bypass Highway
The Nairobi Eastern Bypass Highway is a road in Kenya, forming a semi-circle through the south-eastern and north-eastern neighborhoods of the capital city of Nairobi. The road allows traffic from Mombasa, destined for the central parts of Kenya to bypass downtown Nairobi, thereby reducing traffic congestion in the city's central business district. Location The road starts at the junction of the Nairobi–Mombasa Road and Airport North Road, in Embakasi, immediately west of Nairobi International Airport, approximately south-east of the city centre. The road then loops through the south-eastern suburbs of Nairobi, skirting the northern edges of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, through Ruai. NMG was founded by Aga Khan IV in 1959 and is the largest private media house in East and Central Africa with offices in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The Nairobi Southern Bypass Highway is a road in Kenya, forming a semi-circle through the south-western neighbourhoods of the capital city of Nairobi. The road allows traffic from Mombasa, destined for western Kenya and Uganda to bypass downtown Nairobi, thereby reducing traffic congestion in the city's central business district. Location The road starts at the junction of the Nairobi–Mombasa Road and Likoni Road, approximately south-east of the city centre. The road then loops through the south-western suburbs of Nairobi, including the northern environs of Nairobi National Park, Uhuru Gardens, Lang'ata and Dagoretti. Kikuyu, Kenya
Kikuyu is a town in Kiambu County, Kenya, which grew from a settlement of colonial missionaries. The town is located about northwest of central Nairobi. It is about 20 minutes from Nairobi via a number of routes, including a dual carriage road, and has a railway station on the Mombasa – Malaba Railway Line. The town is named after the Kikuyu/Gĩkũyũ people, the major ethnicity that settled in the area. As of 2019 the total population is 323,881. Due to its geology and rich soil texture, the chief activities are livestock and crop farming. The jurisdiction also includes Ondiri Wetland which is the source of the Nairobi River. Kiambu County
Kiambu County is a county in the former Central Province of Kenya. Its capital is Kiambu and its largest town is Thika. Kiambu County is the second most populous after Nairobi County. Kiambu County borders Nairobi and Kajiado Counties to the South, Machakos to the East, Murang'a to the North and North East, Nyandarua to the North West, and Nakuru to the West and has a population of 2,417,735. The county is 40% rural and 60% urban owing to Nairobi's consistent growth Northwards. The Kikuyu are the dominant tribe in the county.
