Naing Ngan Lin
Naing Ngan Lin ( my, နိုင်ငံလင်း, born September 3, 1977) is a Burmese politician and former political prisoner who currently serves as a regional minister for social affairs and a Pyithu Hluttaw MP for Dekkhinathiri Township. He is a member of the National League for Democracy. Biography Naing Ngan Lin was born on September 3, 1977, in Thaton Township, Mon State to Aye Myint and Phyu. He moved to Yangon when he was about three years old. In 2006, he graduated in politics and government from Open University. After graduation, he married his life partner, Sandar Win. He lives in Yangon with his wife, their son and his parents-in-law. He became involved in politics during the Saffron Revolution of 2007. In 2009, he was arrested and spent two months in prison. Pyithu Hluttaw
The Pyithu Hluttaw ( my, ပြည်သူ့ လွှတ်တော်, ; House of Representatives) is the ''de jure'' lower house of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, the bicameral legislature of Myanmar (Burma). It consists of 440 members, of which 330 are directly elected through the first-past-the-post system in each townships (the third-level administrative divisions of Myanmar), and 110 are appointed by the Myanmar Armed Forces. After the 2010 general election, Thura Shwe Mann was elected as the first Speaker of House of Representatives. The last elections to the Pyithu Hluttaw were held in November 2015. At its first meeting on 1 February 2016, Win Myint and T Khun Myat were elected as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw. Assistance Association of Political Prisoners (Burma) ( my, နိုင်ငံရေးအကျဉ်းသားများကူညီစောင့်ရှောက်ရေးအသင်း; abbreviated AAPP or AAPPB) is an independent non-profit organisation founded by Burmese former political prisoners living in exile. Tatmadaw (, , ) is the official name of the armed forces of Myanmar (formerly Burma). It is administered by the Ministry of Defence and composed of the Myanmar Army, the Myanmar Navy and the Myanmar Air Force. Auxiliary services include the Myanmar Police Force, the Border Guard Forces, the Myanmar Coast Guard, and the People's Militia Units. 2021 Myanmar Coup D'état
A coup d'état in Myanmar began on the morning of 1 February 2021, when democratically elected members of the country's ruling party, the National League for Democracy (NLD), were deposed by the Tatmadaw—Myanmar's military—which then vested power in a military junta. Acting president Myint Swe proclaimed a year-long state of emergency and declared power had been transferred to Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Min Aung Hlaing. Sandar Min ( my, စန္ဒာမင်း, also spelt Sanda Min; born 5 November 1968) is a Burmese politician and former political prisoner who currently serves as a Yangon Region Hluttaw MP for Seikkyi Kanaungto Township № 1 constituency. Phyo Min Thein ( my, ဖြိုးမင်းသိန်း; born 13 April 1969) is a Burmese politician and former political prisoner who is currently serving as Chief Minister of Yangon Region and Yangon Region Parliament MP for Hlegu Township Constituency No. 2. Prior to this, he was the chairman of Union Democratic Party and founder of People Democracy Party which was later merged with Union Democratic Party. 2015 Myanmar General Election
General elections were held in Myanmar on 8 November 2015, with the National League for Democracy winning a supermajority of seats in the combined national parliament. Voting occurred in all constituencies, excluding seats appointed by the military, to select Members of Assembly to seats in both the upper house (the House of Nationalities) and the lower house (the House of Representatives) of the Assembly of the Union, and State and Region Hluttaws.
