Nagpuri Cinema
Nagpuri cinema refers to films produced in the Nagpuri language in state of Jharkhand. History The first Nagpuri feature film was ''Sona Kar Nagpur'' (1992) which was produced and directed by Dhananjay Nath Tiwari. Since then, several films have been produced. Nagpuri cinema faces several challenges such as lack of funds and infrastructure, as most audiences reside in villages. Cinema halls are shutting down in the present day. It is also difficult to release nagpuri films in cinema halls due to the high cost. Despite all these, several films are produced per year and few get released in cinema halls. Nagpuri Language
Nagpuri (also known as Sadri) is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in the Indian states of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Bihar. It is primarily spoken in the west and central Chota Nagpur plateau region. It is sometimes considered a dialect of Bhojpuri. It is native language of the Sadan, the Indo-Aryan ethnic group of Chota Nagpur plateau. In addition to native speakers, it is also used as lingua franca by many tribal groups such as Kurukh, a Dravidian ethnic group and Kharia, Munda, the Austro-asiatic ethnic groups and a number of speakers of these tribal groups have adopted it as their first language. It is also used as a lingua franca among Tea-garden community of Assam, West Bengal and Bangladesh who were taken as a labourers to work in tea gardens during British Period. Cinema Of Jharkhand
In the Indian state of Jharkhand, films are produced in various regional and tribal languages including Kudmali, Hindi, Nagpuri, Khortha and Santali. Film industry in state of Jharkhand is also known as Jhollywood. Since 2015, Government of Jharkhand is encouraging film shooting in State to highlight the natural beauty, religious place, culture of the state as well as to produce jobs by giving subsidy to film makers. New government of Congress-JMM alliance ended subsidy for regional cinema after coming to power in 2020. In recent years several Hindi films have been shot in the state including M.S. Khortha Cinema
Khortha cinema refers to films produced in the Khortha language in the Indian state of Jharkhand. History Khortha cinema was predated in the 1990s by a growing interest in Khortha music. Widespread interest emerged around 1997 to 1998, when the song "Phoolal Phoolal Rotiya" by singer Gautam Kumar Mahato became a hit. After the partition of Jharkhand in 2000, competition increased. The first Khortha music studio was established in Katras under the name Deshwali Studio. The second studio was established in Nirsa under the name Lovely Music. The third studio was called The Music Company. Lens Music then followed. Film In the mid-2000s, the CD and DVD business crashed. Mukund Nayak
Mukund Nayak (born 15 October 1949), is an Indian artist. He is a folk singer, songwriter and dancer. Nayak is an exponent of Nagpuri folk dance Jhumar. He is recipient of the Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. Early life and family He was born in Bokba village of Simdega district, Bihar (now Jharkhand) in 1949.
