Nadir Aliyev
Nadir Alısh oglu Aliyev ( az, Nadir Alış oğlu Əliyev; 30 July 1962, Aliağalı, Agdam, Azerbaijan SSR – 22 July 1993, Qiyaslı, Agdam, Azerbaijan) was the National Hero of Azerbaijan and warrior during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. Early life and education Aliyev was born on 30 July 1962 in Aliağalı village of Agdam raion of Azerbaijan SSR. He studied at Baku Polytechnicum from 1977 to 1981. In 1991, he graduated from the Academy of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan named after F.E. Dzerzhinski, and in 1993, from the Faculty of Law of Baku State University. Aliyev served his military service in the State Security Service and was appointed chief attorney in the Mardakert (Agdara) Division of the Azerbaijan State Security Committee from September to December 1991 and in the Agdere District Division of the Karabakh Department of the Ministry of National Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan since 1992. Baku
Baku (, ; az, Bakı ) is the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan, as well as the largest city on the Caspian Sea and of the Caucasus region. Suraxanı Raion
Suraxanı () is a settlement and raion of Baku, Azerbaijan. It has a population of 210,500. The region is best known for the Fire Temple of Baku on the northern edge of town, a castle-like temple and monastery complex known locally as the ''Ateşgah'' or ''Ateshgyakh''. It was a Zoroastrian temple. The complex was built on a pocket of natural gas that once produced a flame from natural gas seepage. The local Tat name of the raion is said to related to "the Persian words 'Surakh' (hole) or Surkh/ Sorkh (red) and 'khani' (source or fountain). According to historical sources, before the construction of the Parsi Temple Of Fire (Atashgah) in Surakhany at the end of the 18th century, the local people also worshipped at this site because of the 'seven holes with burning flame'. Martyrs' Lane or Alley of Martyrs ( az, Şəhidlər Xiyabanı), formerly known as the Kirov Park, is a cemetery and memorial in Baku, Azerbaijan dedicated to those killed by the Soviet Army during Black January 1990 and in the First Nagorno-Karabakh War of 1988–1994. History In the closing days of World War I, fighting broke out in Baku as a result of the Russian Civil War, with four groups fighting for control of the area when the Russian Empire collapsed. Fighting each other were the Bolsheviks, Mensheviks, Armenians and Azeris. Many people were killed in the fighting including some from a small British force sent to prevent Baku falling into the hands of the Russians. Agdam District
Aghdam District ( az, Ağdam rayonu) is one of the 66 administrative divisions of Azerbaijan. It is located in the west of the country and belongs to the Karabakh Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Khojaly, Kalbajar, Tartar, Khojavend, Aghjabadi, and Barda. Its capital is de jure Aghdam, though the current ''de facto'' capital is Quzanlı.
