Nadia Samdani
Nadia Samdani () is a British born Bangladeshi businesswoman, art collector, and philanthropist. She is involved in developing platforms for art and culture in Bangladesh. Along with her husband Rajeeb Samdani, she is the co-founder of Samdani Art Foundation and its headline event the Dhaka Art Summit, which she also leads as its director. She serves as the Vice President of the Alliance Française de Dhaka. In 2022, Samdani was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in Queen's Birthday Honours for services to global art philanthropy and supporting the arts in South Asia and the UK. In 2023, she was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of the Arts and Letters) by the French government. Rajeeb Samdani
Rajeeb Samdani (born 28 March 1974) is a Bangladeshi industrialist and art collector. As of 2021, he is the managing director of Golden Harvest Group, a Bangladeshi conglomerate, and the founder and trustee of Samdani Art Foundation which produces the Dhaka Art Summit. He is the founding committee member and co-chair of the South Asian Acquisition Committee at the Tate in the United Kingdom. He is a member of Tate's International Council and founding members of Harvard University Lakshmi Mittal South Asia Institute's Arts Advisory Council in the United States. Career Samdani enrolled at North South University, but never completed his degree. He started his career as a commodity broker with Stemcor at age 23. Frieze Art Fair
Frieze Art Fair is an international contemporary art fair in London, New York, and Los Angeles. Frieze London takes place every October in London's Regent's Park. In the US, the fair ran on New York's Randall's Island from 2012–19 and in 2021 was held in the Shed at Hudson Yards, with its inaugural Los Angeles edition taking place February 2019. The London edition normally has about 160 exhibitors in Frieze. It is held over four days in a 40,000SqM tent. There is a simultaneous Frieze Masters event showing older work with about 130 exhibitors, and a temporary sculpture park. In 2021 stand rental was £524 per sqM. The Samdani Art Foundation is a private art foundation founded in 2011 in Dhaka, Bangladesh that aims to increase artistic engagement between the art and architecture of Bangladesh and the rest of the world. It is best known for producing the bi-annual Dhaka Art Summit, which is the highest daily visited contemporary art exhibition in the world, welcoming over 477,000 visitors in its fifth edition in February 2020.
