2018 European Road Cycling Championships
The 2018 European Road Cycling Championships was the 24th running of the European Road Cycling Championships, and took place from 12 to 15 July 2018 in Brno, Czech Republic for the under-23 and junior events, and from 5 to 9 August 2018 in Glasgow, United Kingdom for the elite events. The event consisted of a total of 6 road races and 6 time trials, regulated by the Union Européenne de Cyclisme (UEC). The elite portion of the Championships in Glasgow formed a section of both a first unified UEC European Cycling Championships, and the first multi-sport European Championships. ReVolta
The reVolta is an annual professional women's road bicycle racing event in Catalonia, Spain. First held in 2018, it was initially organised on the same day as the last stage of the Volta a Catalunya. However, as there is another -more important- race scheduled on the same date, it has since been organised independently. American cyclist Lauren Stephens won the first edition. History reVolta's first edition was held March 25, 2018, the same date that the men's Volta a Catalunya's last stage was scheduled. 118 cyclists started the race, which would last 45 minutes plus an extra lap at a 3.85km circuit around the Montjuïc mountain, in Barcelona. Doing so, the event would take advantage of the infrastructure and TV coverage from the men's event. It is held in conjunction with the Tour Down Under. From 2016, it was rated as UCI 2.2, from 2018 as UCI 2.1., from 2020 Women's UCI ProSeries and from 2022 UCI Women's World Tour. Italian National Road Race Championships
The Italian National Road Race Championships are held annually. They are a road cycling race which decides the Italian cycling champion in the road racing discipline, across several categories of rider. The event was first held in 1906 and was won by Giovanni Cuniolo. At the beginning there were often back-to-back wins from many riders. Costante Girardengo made the remarkable achievement of 9 wins between 1913 and 1925. Perhaps if it were not for the First World War, which blocked the running of the championship for four years, from 1915 until 1918, Girardengo would have gained additional victories. Despite this, he also holds the record for most consecutive wins, with 7. After his winning streak ended, another Italian cycling legend, Alfredo Binda, won 4 races in a row.
