Nad Navillus
Nad Navillus is the work of Chicago artist Dan Sullivan (musician), Dan Sullivan. Collaborators have included Rob Sullivan (bass), Andy Sullivan (vocals), Suzanne Roberts (violin, viola), Rob Bochnik (guitar), Dylan Posa (guitar), Dudley Colley (guitar), Joss Moorkens (drums, accordion, musical saw), Bill Murphy (drums), Jim Grabowski (keyboards), Dan Sylvester (drums, percussion), Justus Roe (programmed drums), and Keith Hanlon (drums). The first release, Nad Navillus is a self-titled instrumental CD released on the ProShop label in 1999. Recorded by Joe Kaplan. Show Your Face is the second full-length CD from Nad Navillus, released on Jagjaguwar, November 2001. Recorded by Joe Kaplan at FullPull Studio, Chicago. Dan Sullivan (musician)
Dan Sullivan is an American indie rock musician from Chicago, Illinois Illinois ( ) is a state in the Midwestern United States. Its largest metropolitan areas include the Chicago metropolitan area, and the Metro East section, of Greater St. Louis. Other smaller metropolitan areas include, Peoria and Rockf .... He started his musical career with self-titled (albeit mirrored) Folk Rock band Nad Navillus, releasing three albums from March 1999 to November 2002. He was also a member of short lived Post Rock project A-Z Consolidated, releasing one EP. Dan Sullivan is also known as an occasional guitarist in the Folk Rock band Songs: Ohia. He is currently leading metal band Arriver and also plays in rock band The American Pringles. Jason Andrew Molina (December 30, 1973 – March 16, 2013) was an American musician, singer and songwriter. Raised in northern Ohio, he came to prominence performing and recording as Songs: Ohia, both in solo projects and with a rotating cast of musicians in the late 1990s. Beginning in 2003, he would garner a further indie following for his releases with the band Magnolia Electric Co. Molina had a prolific career between his two musical projects and solo releases, producing a total of sixteen studio albums, eight EPs, and numerous singles. His overall discography was noted by critics for blending elements of indie rock, blues, and alternative country with his tenor vocal range. In 2009, Molina canceled a tour with Will Johnson, citing health problems. ''Metrosideros polymorpha'', the ''ōhia lehua'', is a species of flowering evergreen tree in the myrtle family, Myrtaceae, that is endemic to the six largest islands of Hawaii. It is a highly variable tree, being tall in favorable situations, and a much smaller prostrate shrub when growing in boggy soils or directly on basalt. It produces a brilliant display of flowers, made up of a mass of stamens, which can range from fiery red to yellow. Many native Hawaiian traditions refer to the tree and the forests it forms as sacred to Pele, the volcano goddess, and to Laka, the goddess of hula. Ōhia trees grow easily on lava, and are usually the first plants to grow on new lava flows. VPRO
The VPRO (stylized vpro; originally an acronym for , ) is a Dutch public broadcaster, which forms a part of the Dutch public broadcasting system. Founded in 1926 as a liberal Protestant broadcasting organization, it gradually became more social liberal than Protestant in the 1950s and 1960s, and the original meaning of the acronym was eventually dropped. In 1967, VPRO was the first broadcaster in the Netherlands to show a nude woman – Phil Bloom – on national television. The VPRO is known for sometimes producing avant-garde programs, documentaries and films. The target audience of the VPRO consists mainly of highly educated and creative people (e.g. artists, designers, scientists).
