Nacala Solar Power Station
Nacala Solar Power Station, is a planned solar power plant in Mozambique. The 100 megawatt installation is at the feasibility study stage. If and when the solar farm is developed, it will be the largest solar power station in the country. The development plans to include an energy-storage facility with capacity of 50 megawatts. The lead developer is ''WHN Solar Company'', a Mozambican independent power producer (IPP). Location The power station would be located in the port-city of Nacala, on the premises of Nacala International Airport, in the Nampula Province of Mozambique. Nacala Airport lies on the Atlantic coast, approximately , by road, northeast of Nampula, the provincial capital. Nacala International Airport
Nacala Airport is an airport near Nacala, in Nampula Province in Mozambique. Formerly a military airport, it underwent a major redevelopment to convert it to commercial use. The redeveloped airport opened in 2014, but for the last three years has stood almost unused, operating at 4% capacity with only LAM Mozambique Airlines flying there twice a week from Maputo. Development The airport was constructed by the Brazilian multi-national engineering and construction firm Odebrecht International, part of the Odebrecht conglomerate of companies, as part of rehabilitating the Nacala airport for commercial aviation use. As a cargo and passenger handling station the work was budgeted at USD 80 million. Nampula is a province of northern Mozambique. It has an area of and a population of 5,758,920, making it the most populous province in Mozambique (2017 census). Nacala
Nacala, also known as Cidade de Nacala or Nacala-Porto is a city on the northern coast of Mozambique. Located in the southwestern indentation of inner Fernao Veloso Bay, it is the deepest natural port on the east coast of Africa. Nampula
Nampula is the capital city of Nampula Province in Northern Mozambique. With a population of 743,125 (2017 census), it is the third-largest city in Mozambique after Maputo and Matola.
