Nabila Erian
Nabila M. Erian (Arabic: نبيلة عريان, born 1941) is a professor of vocal sciences at the Cairo Conservatoire, Academy of Arts. Her career as a leading soprano opera singer debuted in 1960. She is also an expert on the history of Coptic music. Her latest research revolves around the continuity between the current practiced Coptic music and the Ancient Egyptian tradition. Erian advocates for the construction of a new modern state of the arts opera house at the New Cairo Administrative Capital. Education Erian obtained her PhD entitled ''Coptic Music: An Egyptian Tradition'' in 1986 from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Between 1970 and 1973 she obtained several diplomas and a fellowship from the Trinity College London. Abu Bakr Khairat
Abu Bakr Khairat (10 April 1910 – 1963) ( ar, أبو بكر خيرت); also spelled Abu Bakr Khayrat) was an Egyptian composer of classical music, part of that nation's first generation of such composers. An architect by profession, Khairat studied music since childhood, and studied harmony and composition in Paris privately. He had a successful career in architecture, designing the Academy of Arts complex and the Sayed Darwish Concert Hall. His compositions are written in a romantic idiom, combining Egyptian traditional elements with Western music. He sometimes drew on melodies by the early 20th-century Egyptian composer Sayed Darwish. He served as the first dean of the Cairo Conservatoire, from 1959 to 1963. Khairat's father was Mahmud Khayrat. His nephew is the composer Omar Khairat (عمر خيرت). Gamal Abdel-Rahim ( ar, جمال عبد الرحيم ) (November 25, 1924 Cairo – November 23, 1988 Königstein/Germany) was a distinguished Egyptian classical music composer, and composition professor. Life and career Abdel-Rahim was born in Cairo to a musical father, and began playing the piano at an early age. His early musical studies were supported by the Music Society of the Faculty of Arts of Cairo University (then called Fuad I University), graduating with a degree in history.
