New Zealand Professional Boxing Association (NZPBA) is one of the four governing bodies for the sport of professional boxing in New Zealand. NZPBA is a non-profit organisation. History The Body was founded as South Pacific Boxing Association, with the name changed to New Zealand Professional Boxing Association inc in 1984 at their AGM. The new name was greeted and accepted by the World Bodies and Commonwealth Boxing Council. In 2006, NZPBA had their first female national champion with Daniella Smith defeating Sue Glassey for the Super Welterweight title. Smith is New Zealand's second professional National Champion. In April 2016, NZPBA sanctioned New Zealand's first major world title fight (from one of the four major sanctioning bodies) for the WBC female middleweight title with Kali Reis defeating Maricela Cornejo by split decision. Gunnar Jackson (born 6 July 1986) is a New Zealand professional boxer. At regional level he held the NZPBA super middleweight title from 2012 to 2013; the NZPBA middleweight title in 2013; and the WBO The World Boxing Organization (WBO) is an organization which sanctions professional boxing bouts. Nailini Inaise Vae Helu (born 20 November 1993, Nukualofa, Tonga) is a professional boxer who lives in New Zealand. Helu is the world's first Tongan professional female boxer. Helu has won multiple amateur titles and has peaked 6th on BoxRec, 6th WIBA, top 2 in WBA Oceania and 10th WBC female professional boxing rankings. Professional debut, controversy national title fight and first loss 2016 Helu made her pro boxing debut against Kirsty Lupeamanu for the promotions own Inaugural Royal Rampage Heavyweight title. Sarah Long (born Te Haroto, New Zealand 27 April 1987) is a New Zealand professional boxer and kickboxer. She is the current NZPBA New Zealand national heavyweight champion. She has peaked in the world rankings when she ranked 10th in the World Boxing Council and 4th on BoxRec. Professional Boxing Career first year 2016 Sarah Long made her professional boxing debut against three time New Zealand amateur national champion Nailini Helu on 18 June 2016. Daniella Smith
Daniella Smith (born 30 July 1972, in Kaikohe, New Zealand) is a New Zealand former professional boxer. She became the first female fighter to win an IBF title, having held the welterweight version from 2010 to 2011 and is the second New Zealand born person to win a boxing world title. Smith is also ranked pound-for-pound number one in New Zealand of all time in the Women's division. Amateur career In 1999, Smith started her career as an amateur. In a space of six years she has fought in forty fights, winning multiple titles including the gold at the national championships four times. John Conway (born 8 March 1968, New Zealand) is a retired professional boxer and kickboxer. Conway biggest boxing bout of his career was challenging for the WBO Asia Pacific light heavyweight title against Soulan Pownceby in June 2011. Te Arani Moana Daniels (born 15 July 1988, Whangarei, New Zealand) is a New Zealand Maori professional female boxer. Uaine Fa Junior (born 19 October 1989) is a New Zealand professional boxer. As an amateur he represented Tonga at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, winning a bronze medal in the super-heavyweight division; he also represented Tonga at the Oceania Championships, winning gold and multiple silver medals. Lance Revill (born 30 August 1953) is the former president of the New Zealand Professional Boxing Association (NZPBA), a New Zealand boxing promoter, referee, and a former New Zealand professional boxer. Revill compiled a professional record of 21 wins and 13 losses, with 13 knockouts, in light heavyweight bouts fought in New Zealand and Australia between 1974 and 1990. Birthony Katarina Nansen (born 11 January 1987), better known as Baby Nansen, is a New Zealand professional boxer and kickboxer. Nansen's biggest fight of her career was against Melissa St. Vil for the vacant WBC Silver female super featherweight title on the Kali Reis vs. Maricela Cornejo undercard.
