NSW Sport And Recreation
The New South Wales Office of Sport, an agency of the New South Wales Government, is responsible for assisting the people of New South Wales to participate in sport and active recreation, in order to improve personal and community well being. Administratively, the agency is a division within the Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade. The Chief Executive of the Office of Sport is Karen Jones. The agency is responsible to the Minister for Sport, presently The Hon. Alister Henskens . History The history of the agency goes back to 1955 when the New South Wales Department of Sport and Recreation was formed. In 2003 the agency was reincarnated as the New South Wales Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation (2003 to 2006), the Department of the Arts, Sport and Recreation (2006 to 2009), Communities NSW (2009 to 2011), and Office of Communities, Sport & Recreation (2011-2014). Sydney Olympic Park
Sydney Olympic Park is a suburb of Greater Western Sydney, located 13 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Parramatta Council. It is commonly known as Olympic Park but officially named Sydney Olympic Park. The area was part of the suburb of Lidcombe and known as "North Lidcombe", but between 1989 and 2009 was named " Homebush Bay" (part of which is now the separate suburb of Wentworth Point). Alister Henskens
Alister Andrew Henskens (born 30 December 1963) is an Australian politician. He has served as the New South Wales Minister for Skills and Training, the Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology, and the Leader of the House in the Legislative Assembly since December 2021 in the Perrottet ministry. He previously served as the Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services between May and December 2021. Henskens has been a Liberal Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly since 2015, representing the electorate of electoral district of Ku-ring-gai in Sydney's upper North Shore. The New South Wales Department of the Arts, Sport and Recreation is a former department of the Government of New South Wales and was previously responsible for a number of cultural and sporting institutions. The Department was formed in February 2006 from the New South Wales Department of Gaming and Racing and the New South Wales Ministry of the Arts and parts of the New South Wales Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation and was dissolved in 2009.
