National Socialist Vanguard
The National Socialist Vanguard is a Neo-Nazi group founded in 1983 and led by Rick Cooper, based in The Dalles, Oregon, US, from about 1998. It has focused its efforts on recruiting high school students. History Rick Cooper (1946–2006) began his National Socialist activism in 1970 when he set up a " White Power" telephone message service in Fresno, California. He joined the National Socialist White People's Party in 1975 and became its business manager at its Arlington, Virginia, Virginia headquarters on August 12, 1978. He remained business manager until February 5, 1980, when he was transferred to Chicago. Cooper began to have friction with Party leader Matt Koehl, particularly over the issuing of National Socialist " victory bonds", which would be redeemed after the Party took power. Cooper filed a lawsuit to recover his investments and suspended from membership. In a June 1980 letter, NSWPP membership secretary Dominic Lewitzke sent a letter to Cooper outlining t ...

Nationalistische Studentenvereniging
The Nationalistische Studentenvereniging (NSV) (Dutch; "Nationalist Student Association") is a far-right Flemish nationalist student political group in Belgium, with chapters in Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent, Leuven, West Flanders (including Bruges, Roeselare, Ostend and Kortrijk), Hasselt and Mechelen. History The NSV was founded in 1976 by Edwin Truyens as a radical splinter group of the Katholiek Vlaams Hoogstudentenverbond (KVHV; "Catholic Flemish Student Union"). This split occurred after the national council of the KVHV resented the radical Flemish nationalist stances of Truyens and his faction, including accepting nothing less than full Flemish independence. Throughout their history, they have made the news several times by being present at demonstrations of the radical fringe of the Flemish Movement. They are considered the counterweight to leftist student organisations in the universities and other institutions of higher education. Despite the controversy surrounding the ...

National Socialist People's Welfare
The National Socialist People's Welfare (german: Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt, NSV) was a social welfare organization during the Third Reich. The NSV was originally established in 1931 as a small Nazi Party-affiliated charity active locally in the city of Berlin. On 3 May 1933, shortly after the Nazi Party took power in Weimar Germany, Adolf Hitler turned it into a party organization that was to be active throughout the country. The structure of the NSV was based on the Nazi Party model, with local, county (''Kreis'') and district (''Gau'') administrations. Nazi Opposition to Social Welfare While the Nazi Party had existed since 1920, it did not initially set up its own social welfare department as several other German political parties had done. Nazi ideology was in principle unfavourable to the idea of social welfare.Richard J. Evans (2005). ''The Third Reich in Power, 1933-1939''. New York City, New York: The Penguin Press. p. 483. Writing in Mein Kampf about his tim ...

National-Social Association
The National-Social Association (german: Nationalsozialer Verein, NSV) was a political party in the German Empire, founded in 1896 by Friedrich Naumann. It sought to synthesise liberalism, nationalism and non- Marxist socialism with Protestant Christian values in order to cross the ideological front lines and draw workers away from Marxist class struggle. However, it never grew beyond a minor party of intellectuals which failed to gain mass support in elections. History In the second half of the 19th century, Germany underwent a rapid industrialization, which was connected with rising social problems. As a result of this, the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) was founded and soon outlawed under the first Chancellor of the German Empire Otto von Bismarck. After the party was legalized again in 1890 (the year Bismarck resigned), it enjoyed considerable success at elections. Since the SPD was Marxist, using Karl Marx's ''Das Kapital'' for their theoretical underpinnin ...

Nullsoft Streaming Video
Nullsoft Streaming Video (NSV) was a media container designed for streaming video content over the Internet. NSV was developed by Nullsoft, the makers of Winamp. The NSV format is another example of streaming video formats, offered by various companies and media players. Windows Media, QuickTime File Format and RealMedia streams are just a few examples of these, and each have their benefits and shortcomings. NSV, by default configuration, used MP3 as its standard audio format, with VP3 as the video format. Various hacks and codec installations allowed NSV to use Ogg Vorbis for audio and later updates of the VP codecs for video. One of the shortfalls of most streaming formats often comes from the difficulty in finding streams, or at least some form of directory service; and in some cases, none are readily available to the public at all. With Nullsoft's SHOUTcast service, a media streaming and directory system, the NSV format became popular, along with SHOUTcast's listings of Stre ...

New Catalogue Of Suspected Variable Stars
The ''New Catalogue of Suspected Variable Stars'' (NSV) is a star catalogue containing 14,811 stars which, although suspected to be variable, were not given variable star designations In astronomy, a variable star designation is a unique identifier given to variable stars. It uses a variation on the Bayer designation format, with an identifying label (as described below) preceding the Latin language, Latin genitive case, geniti ... prior to 1980. Nanosievert
The sievert (symbol: SvNot be confused with the sverdrup or the svedberg, two non-SI units that sometimes use the same symbol.) is a unit in the International System of Units (SI) intended to represent the stochastic health risk of ionizing radiation, which is defined as the probability of causing radiation-induced cancer and genetic damage. The sievert is important in dosimetry and radiation protection. It is named after Rolf Maximilian Sievert, a Swedish medical physicist renowned for work on radiation dose measurement and research into the biological effects of radiation. The sievert is used for radiation dose quantities such as equivalent dose and effective dose, which represent the risk of external radiation from sources outside the body, and committed dose, which represents the risk of internal irradiation due to inhaled or ingested radioactive substances. According to the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) one sievert results in a 5.5% pro ...

Newton–Størmer–Verlet
In mathematics, the semi-implicit Euler method, also called symplectic Euler, semi-explicit Euler, Euler–Cromer, and Newton–Størmer–Verlet (NSV), is a modification of the Euler method for solving Hamilton's equations, a system of ordinary differential equations that arises in classical mechanics. It is a symplectic integrator and hence it yields better results than the standard Euler method. Setting The semi-implicit Euler method can be applied to a pair of differential equations of the form :\begin &= f(t,v) \\ &= g(t,x), \end where ''f'' and ''g'' are given functions. Here, ''x'' and ''v'' may be either scalars or vectors. The equations of motion in Hamiltonian mechanics take this form if the Hamiltonian is of the form : H = T(t,v) + V(t,x). \, The differential equations are to be solved with the initial condition : x(t_0) = x_0, \qquad v(t_0) = v_0. The method The semi-implicit Euler method produces an approximate discrete solution by iterating :\begin v ...

No Scalpel Vasectomy
No-scalpel vasectomy (also called non-scalpel vasectomy, keyhole vasectomy or NSV) is a type of vasectomy procedure in which a specifically designed ringed clamp and dissecting hemostat is used to puncture the scrotum to access the vas deferens. This is different from a conventional or incisional vasectomy where the scrotal opening is made with a scalpel. The NSV approach offers several benefits, including lower risk for bleeding, bruising, infection, and pain. The NSV approach also has a shorter procedure time than the conventional scalpel incision technique. Both approaches to vasectomy are equally effective. Because of the inherent simplicity of the procedure it affords itself to be used in public health programs worldwide. This method is used in over 40 countries for male sterilisation. History No-scalpel vasectomy was developed and first performed in China by Dr. Li Shunqiang with the aim of reducing men's fear related to the incision and increasing vasectomy use in China. I ...

Nürnberger-Spielkarten-Verlag
Nürnberger-Spielkarten-Verlag (NSV) is a German playing card manufacturer and board game publisher based in Nuremberg. It was founded in 1989 after outsourcing from the publishing house of F.X. Schmid and builds on the "Heinrich Schwarz Playing Card Factory, Nuremberg" (''Spielkartenfabrik Heinrich Schwarz Nürnberg'') founded in 1948. The company produces playing cards and dice games s and, especially in recent years, increasingly proprietary games from various game authors. History NSV emerged from the Heinrich Schwarz's Playing Cards Factory in Nuremberg which he founded in 1948. In the early 1960s the company traded under the name "Heinrich Schwarz & Co" and was sold to Gisela Herfurth, who further developed and expanded the company as ''Nürnberger Spielkarten GmbH'' with the label "''Neue Nürnberger Spielkarten''" (New Nuremberg Playing Cards). It was able to expand the range of playing cards and expand it to include advertising material and other toys, as well as estab ...
