NPO 1 Extra
NPO 1 Extra is a television channel jointly operated by Dutch public broadcasters AVROTROS, BNNVARA, EO, KRO-NCRV and MAX. It was originally launched as HilversumBest on 1 December 2006. NPO 1 Extra presents highlights of more than sixty years of Dutch television history. The channel was founded by Han Peekel. History In April 2009, HilversumBest was renamed as Best24. On 10 March 2014 the channel changed its name to NPO Best. On 26 March 2018 the channel was renamed as NPO 1 Extra. NPO 1 Extra (along with NPO Zapp Extra) became a 24-hour channel on 25 December 2018. Previously, NPO 1 Extra time-shared with NPO Zapp Xtra. Programming NPO 1 Extra broadcasts programmes created by the public broadcasters from the NPO. Most programmes are from the archives of the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. 1080i
1080i (also known as Full HD or BT.709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number "1080" refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen. The "i" is an abbreviation for "interlaced"; this indicates that only the even lines, then the odd lines of each frame (each image called a video field) are drawn alternately, so that only half the number of actual image frames are used to produce video. A related display resolution is 1080p, which also has 1080 lines of resolution; the "p" refers to progressive scan, which indicates that the lines of resolution for each frame are "drawn" on the screen in sequence. NPO 2 (''NPO twee'', formerly Nederland 2 until 2014) is a Dutch television channel, sister channel of NPO 1 and NPO 3. It was established on 1 October 1964 at 20:00, initially with a 2.5 hours schedule until 22:30. NPO 2 tends to broadcast arts, culture, politics, news, current affairs, documentaries and religious programmes. In the mornings, NPO 2 simulcasts NPO 1's news bulletins with sign language. Zeg 'ns AAA
''Zeg 'ns Aaa'' (''Say Aah'') was one of the longest running and most popular Dutch sitcoms, situated in the medical practice of a general practitioner and revolving around herself, her family, and her housekeeper. The title refers to the imperative phrase ''Say Aah'', often said by doctors when they want to inspect the mouth cavity of a patient. The series ran for 212 episodes from 1981 until 1993 and was broadcast by the VARA. It was also shown on Belgian television and with English subtitles on Super Channel and on SBS-TV in Australia. NPO Zappelin Extra was a digital theme TV channel jointly operated by AVROTROS, EO, KRO-NCRV, NTR and VPRO. The TV channel launched as Zappelin 24 on 30 May 2009. It broadcasts replays and broadcasts from NPO Zapp and NPO Zappelin, via the cable and internet. The TV channel was part of the Nederlandse Publieke Omroep. Han Peekel (6 October 1947 – 14 December 2022) was a Dutch television producer, writer, radio- and television presenter. He was best known as presenter of television programs as and . Peekel also produced television shows and wrote books. Biography Peekel started in the 1960s as a singer of Dutch songs and was presenter at Radio Veronica. He became known for his television appearances. The television program ''Wordt Vervolgd'' about comics and cartoons started in 1983 and Peekel presented the program for seventeen years. NPO 3 (''NPO drie'', formerly Nederland 3 until 2014) is the third and youngest of the terrestrial television channels operated by the Dutch public-broadcasting organization NPO in the Netherlands. It carries programmes provided by member-based non-profit broadcasting associations and is oriented towards children, youth and innovative television.
