NHK World Premium
NHK World Premium is a TV news and entertainment broadcasting service offered by NHK World-Japan, the international arm of Japan's public broadcaster NHK. The service is aimed towards Japanese Diaspora and the overseas market, similar to worldwide national channels such as CCTV-4, KBS World, TV5Monde, TVE Internacional, RTP Internacional, TV Chile, Rai Italia or RTR-Planeta, and broadcast through subscription TV providers around the world. The purpose of NHK World Premium is to make original, general television content produced by NHK available to an international audience. NHK World-Japan
NHK World-Japan (formerly and also known simply as NHK World) is the international arm of the Japanese public broadcaster NHK. Its services are aimed at the overseas market, similar to those offered by other national public-service broadcasters, such as the British BBC ( BBC World Service, the international feed of the BBC News channel, etc.), France 24, or the German DW. Contents are broadcast through shortwave radio, satellite, and cable operators throughout the world, as well as online and through its mobile apps. It is headquartered in Tokyo. TV Chile is a Chilean pay television network that airs from Santiago, Chile. It is the international feed of the National Television of Chile. History The first national satellite broadcasts of TVN began in 1986, reaching also some parts of Latin America. TV Chile, as an independent signal from TVN, began officially in 1989. Things would change radically for the network during the 2000s, when it made a contract with DirecTV, which allowed TV Chile to reach over 140 countries worldwide, which roughly constitutes 66 percent of the world's countries. is the flagship evening news program of the public Japanese broadcaster, NHK. It airs weekdays on NHK general television and worldwide on NHK World Premium and is also available on the networks video-on-demand service. As of 2025, it is presented by Hitoshi Hirouchi, Makoto Hoshi and Aoi Noguchi. The program has been broadcast by the network since 1961, although it has been using its current title only from 2006. ''NHK News Ohayō Nippon'' (, ) is a Japanese morning television show on NHK General TV, anchored mainly by Masatomo Takai and Kana Nakayama, from the NHK studios at NHK Broadcasting Center in Tokyo, Japan. ''AKB48 Show!'' is a TV variety show produced by NHK in Japan, and aired weekly on BS Premium and NHK World Premium from October 5, 2013, to March 24, 2019. The show featured songs, comedy skits and short dramas performed by AKB48 and sister groups. From until , the show aired on BS Premium every Sunday at 10:50 PM JST, with repeats from previous episode every Sunday at 09:30 AM JST. The show ended on March 24, 2019, after 216 episodes. BBC Japan was a short-lived subscription television channel co-owned by BBC Worldwide and SKY PerfecTV! subsidiary Japan Mediarc that was available via satellite in Japan. The channel's aim was to showcase the BBC's programming to the Japanese market, but it suffered from financial issues from its co-owner that led to the channel's closure a year later. History The channel was announced by the BBC on 8 October 2004 for a launch on 1 December. The channel launched as planned on that day, broadcast on Sky PerfecTV! satellite channel 110. TV Japan (テレビジャパン) was a 24-hour Japanese-language television channel geared towards the Japanese diaspora in the United States and Canada. It was the North American carrier of the NHK World Premium service. The channel was owned by NHK CosmoMedia America Inc., a subsidiary of NHK Enterprises, the commercial arm of the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK), Japan's national public broadcaster, and was available on many cable providers in the United States and Canada, and through U.S. satellite provider DirecTV. JSTV
was a Japanese television broadcasting company serving viewers in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. Launched in March 1990 and broadcasting from London, it carried the programming from the NHK World Premium service in the regions served. History JSTV was set up in early 1990 by Marubeni-Iida in association with the Mitsukoshi department store chain. Test broadcasts were slated for a 15 February launch and were set to commence regular broadcasts on 1 March.
