NBA Cup
The NBA Cup is a National Basketball Association (NBA) tournament which occurs during the regular season. The tournament was officially announced on July 8, 2023, and it debuted during the 2023–24 NBA season. The first edition of the event was called the In-Season Tournament. The format is a multi-stage tournament beginning with group play followed by single-elimination knockout rounds. Group play consists of three groups of five teams per conference, for a total of six groups. Each team plays four group stage games which count towards both the NBA Cup group standings and the regular season standings. The winners of each group, along with one wild card team from each conference, advance to the knockout rounds. The final two rounds of the knockout stage are played at a neutral site. The winning team receives the trophy, also called the NBA Cup, and each winning player receives a cash prize, which was $500,000 for the 2023 edition. 2023 NBA In-Season Tournament
The 2023 NBA In-Season Tournament was a multi-stage tournament, multi-stage basketball tournament that played during the 2023–24 NBA season. It was the first edition of the NBA Cup, then under the working name ''NBA In-Season Tournament''. All 30 teams participated, each playing four regular season games that count towards the tournament's group stage standings. All games in the knockout round, except for the championship game, also counted towards the regular season standings. The tournament's semifinals and championship game were played at T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip. The WNBA Commissioner's Cup, known for sponsorship reasons as the WNBA Commissioner's Cup Presented By Coinbase, is an in-season competition of the Women's National Basketball Association that begins at the start of the regular season and continues throughout the first half of the season. The final is played between the top teams from the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. A total of 60 regular-season contests involving all 12 teams count toward the Cup standings. The Commissioner's Cup was originally scheduled to begin in the 2020 WNBA season, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cup was first awarded in the 2021 season. The 2023 NBA In-Season Tournament championship game was the final game of the inaugural edition of the NBA In-Season Tournament. The game was played on December 9, 2023, in the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. A rematch of the 2000 NBA Finals, the game was contested by the Indiana Pacers of the Eastern Conference and the Los Angeles Lakers of the Western Conference. Unlike other games, this game does not count towards the regular-season standings, nor affects the regular-season performances of the players. The Indiana Pacers are an American professional basketball team based in Indianapolis. The Pacers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference Central Division.
